This is one of the best books I've ever read. I've given it as a gift several times. I've loaned it out, not gotten it back and had to buy myself a new copy more times than I can count. Tom Robbins has a way with words that you rarely find. He plays with them like a mixture of Shakespeare and Douglas Adams. He is funny, rude, and spiritual. The only other living author who is close is Christopher Moore. Jitterbug Perfume is my favorite Robbins book.

A great Tom Robbins book! Remember it well from my read in 1986...snowy day and I didn't put the book down until it was finished that day! A must read for those who have the imagination to "join" the characters!!

This is not a quick read. I loved the clever and unique writing style but many of the sentences needed to be pondered. This book at times drew me to it and I could not stop reading and at times I wished the point would just be made already. I was glad I read it but glad when I was done.

Loved this book! Tom Robbins is a true wordsmith and a joy to read! You'll laugh out loud at this outlandish tale and then you'll want to read it again. Highly recommended!

This my favorite of the Tom Robbins novels. Really worth reading if you are into funny magical realism.

Robbins is a maverick. He is king of words and this epic story does not dissapoint. A must for any bibliophile!

My favorite Tom Robbins novel and one of the best stories I've ever read. This was the second Robbins book I ever read and hooked me on his crazy story telling for life. I fell so in love with the characters and their plight I cried when it was over. I go back and visit them regularly.
I found it a struggle to finish. It lost steam about halfway through. Maybe I just missed Kudra.
Effing brilliant. Utterly ridiculous, but on every page you will find a truth that makes perfect sense. Or scents. Either way!
seriously quirky novel; classic tom robbins
Jitterbug Perfume is a crazed, jazzed-up jambalaya of gems, trifles, tidbits and practical jokes. Our language wasn't meant to do the things Robbins persuades it to, but it is the better for it. This wild comic rip through eternity and beyond shows some of the most disarming wit and original writing around. Jitterbug should make you dance - maybe not jitterbug, but shimmy at the least - with joy. --Detroit Press
The second best Tom Robbins book ever.
Tom Robbins is one of my favorite writers. Filled with his usual quirky characters.
The hero is a janitor with a missing bottle. The bottle is blue, very, very old, and embossed with the image of a goat-horned god. If the liquid in the bottle actually is the secret essence of the universe, as some seem to think, it had better be discovered soon because the bottle is leaking and there is only a drop or two left.
There is an exotic cast, all interested in immortality and/or perfume.

My first Tom Robbins book, I loved it.
One of my favorite Tom Robbins books!
I love Tom Robbins and I think Jitterbug Perfume is his best work.
Gotta love Tom Robbins...
This book changed my life about 4 years ago and I have been a better person ever since.
Very funny story.
From the cover:
"Jitterbug Perfume" is an epic, which is to say, it begins in the forests of ancient Bohemia and doesn't conclude until nine o'clock tonight (Paris time). It is a saga, as well. A saga must have a hero and the hero of this one is a janitor with a missing bottle. The bottle is blue, very, very old and embossed with the image of a goat-horned god. If the liquid in the bottle actually is the secret essence of the universe, as some folks seem to think, it had better be discovered soon because it is leaking and there is only a drop or two left.

Another Robbins. He is brilliant!
Love this book. Totally unexpected and magical. A fun imaginative read.
Couldn't finish it. Only made it to pg 89. Its for those that like fantasy and a confusing story. Didn't get it.
I read this book probably 20 years ago. It has managed to stick in my mind throughout. I would love to read it again, but, since my eyesight has gone downhill along with my age, I no longer read. I listen to audiobooks, and it is not available in audio. Too bad, I rally enjoyed this book.
The cover on my edition is different from the one shown but it is the same book.
