This book re-tells the tale of Romeo and Juliet from a modern perspective. It's about an older couple who falls in love, and their feuding families.

It's a light read, but thoroughly engrossing and enjoyable. I enjoyed it so much that I read it twice!

Since then, I've sought out other books by Jeanne Ray. She has a wonderful writing style and the ability to tell a story that pulls you in. You'll love all the characters!

Think Romeo and Juliet and the family feus. Bring it forward to Somervillle, Ma. and it is an updated version. I enjoyed the book. Very light and proves there is still love and passion after 60

A very popular (NY Times bestseller) funny romance between two very youthful sixty-somethings whose families have carried on a feud for generations. Love and sexual attraction conquers family objections.

Romantic comedy about two florists from feuding families who find each other in their middle years when they have both lost their mates. The problems they face are mostly caused by their own grown up children and make for lots of funny and touching moments.

Take this book on vacation. It is a fun read - not too heavy, and you will like Julie and her beau. The story is light and you know it will end well even as matters gets further and further out of hand. It is amazing to me that this book has not been made into a movie - there are some scenes that are so lively and funny.

Fun retelling of Romeo and Juliet from the modern perspective. Very light reading.

Julie and Romeo by Jeanne Ray is the modern version of Romeo and Juliet. The adult Julie and Romeo in present times has an ex husband, flower shops, and grown children to deal with. The family has been fighting for so long the main people are not sure why they are fighting and the elderly matriarch doesn't want to tell. Will the star crossed lovers in modern times find a happy ending or are they doomed to repeat history?

It is an easy read with funny characters. After reading it, I was looking forward to more of Ray's books.

Romantic fiction: Julie Roseman is a divorcee and Romeo Cacciamani is a widower. Both own florist shops and both belong to the wrong side of a generational fued. But when they actually meet they fall in love with eachother. But when their families find out, it's war...

Great book. A bit romantic/you knew how it was going to end, but with older charachters and realistic situations.

Well-written women's fiction about an older couple falling in love, despite their family feud and their children's prejudices.

I enjoyed this take on Romeo and Juliet, though there were a few over the top moments. It raises good questions about why to continue a feud whose origin has been long forgotten without hitting you over the head with a moral. This was not my favorite Jeanne Ray novel, but encourages me to read more of her work.

Very good book. It gives you hope that if you are patient you might find the one you truly love. At any age love might become part of your life.

Really, *really* loved this book! I picked it up in the LaGuardia airport to have something to read on the plane, and was extremely grateful for the incredibly noisy plane ride -- I kept laughing out loud. I'm certain the people next to me thought I was nuts...

A fun read - my mother even liked it and laughed at it. Her favorite scene - the one in the walk-in cooler (that's all I'm going to tell you about it).

I LOVED this book. It's a take off on the Montagues and Capulets from Shakespeare, but this Julie and Romeo are in their 60's and it's their kids who want to keep them apart. This was a really fun read.

I am picky about books. I don't like sappy, no thought, books with one dimensional characters. I do however love stories about families and this is one of my favorites. It's not destined to become America's best written and most loved novel but it does accomplish something special. It is original, witty, cute, smart, sexy, and captivating. A slight miracle for what I call "Bubblegum Fiction". That is, fiction that is a quick read and doesn't make your mind turn somersaults. Sometimes you need something for pure entertainment value. This piece of bubblegum fiction holds its flavor throughout the book. I highly reccomend it. As an aside- the characters are more mature lovebirds and as a young married woman, I found their relationship to be fascinating AND encouraging.

Great story of the loving and hating relationship between two families -- both in the floral business. Involves several generations, strong personalities and growth for all. Lots of situations in a small book (238 pg paperback).

"Julie Roseman has known since childhood that Rosemans are supposed to loathe, despise, and distrust Caccianmanis. She's never known exactly WHY, but she's followed her family's advice and avoided the Cacciamanis like the plague. Now she's bumped into Romeo Cacciamani at a small-business conference. They're both running the florist shops outside Boston that have been in their failies for years--and struggling to keep them afloat. They're both single, since Romeolost his wife and Julie's husband her for a scheming little 38 year old. Actually, the dreaded Romeo Caccianami seems sort of...sweet. Now this unexpected relationship is blooming into something big. Julie and Romeo think it's love. But when their families find out, it's war..." First book in a two-book series, the second book being JULIE AND ROMEO GET LUCKY.

Meet the Cacciamanis and the Rosemans, rival florists and bitter enemies for as long as either family can remember (although no one can recall precisely why) until one fateful day when divorced Julie Roseman and widowed Romeo Cacciamani meet by chance at a small business seminar in the Boston Sheraton. More than flowers bloom as a result and when their respective families--horrified--find out about the budding romance, all hell breaks loose.
