This is actually the prequel to WISE CHILD, and answers several questions that were brought up in her earlier tale. The book is well written, and very entertaining.
Enjoyable young adult book about a girl learning how to be a "doran" (witch). It seems a little preachy about how great Wicca is. But it's nice because the way it treats magic, it seems almost believable as a history. Prequel to Wise Child, but written after and stands alone.
Magically beautiful story! A treasured book in our household. Waiting till our daughter is old enough for us to read it to her.
ETA: Also "Doran" actually means Stranger which explains so much about Juniper from the Book "Wise Child"

The first book in a magical series.
The writing style in this book seemed "off" to me, but I've talked with lots of other people who have really loved it, so I feel confident passing it on to someone who will be able to love it better than I could. :)
