Just had to put in my two cents here, this book is a GREAT READ ! It is the book that actually turned me on to romance novels, and especially time travel ones. You run the gambit of emotions in this book, from laughing out loud to smiling to crying your eyes out. The ending is not the usual ending and it is a book that I truly closed with a sigh of contentment. I sincerely doubt, even if you are not usually a romance or a time travel reader, that you will NOT love this book, it is a keeper :-)

Ok...so for years I have been told to read this book because it was fabulous. I always replied with..."Ugh...a time travel book...I _hate_ time travel books."
Guess what? I read it...and loved it. It changed my assumption that all TT books paint a romanticized outlook on the places the traveler ends up. This book had a man from the 16th century traveling to 1988. Then it had a modern woman traveling back to the 16th century. His experience and her experience were, of course, very different but despite this being a TT woo woo storyline it felt extremely realistic. Her experiences in the 16th century seemed spot on with history. Visiting the local town and experiencing the filth and stench of poverty for example. Never have I read such an accurate portayal of what common people lived like. Despite the harsh realities the book told about it still was a beautiful love story that was bittersweet. I was so engrossed with Nicholas and Dougless's story that I found myself tearing up several times. Ok...honestly it was a two hanky read for me.

I love this book so much that I actually bought another copy when I couldn't find my original one. I've read it three times. This is an awesome love story that deals with time travel/reicarnation. It's set in modern times but goes back to medieval times. You won't regret reading it.
Stephanie Zimbalist does a wonderful job reading Deveraux's beloved novel. Highly recommended.
I had a really hard time getting into this book. I really didn't care what happened.
This is my favorite book ever. I have a copy, two of my daughters have copies. It is a romantic time-travel. I love this story!
78 people gave this book extremely high ratings. I was so disappointed! This was the worst romance that I've ever read. I couldn't get more than 20 pages in without throwing the book in disgust across the room.
Loved This book thoroughly. It had just enough surprises to keep you on the edge of your seat without being too predictable. Truly a wonderful Love Story.
This is a great time travel novel. It is unusual because the hero comes forward in time instead of the heroin going back in time.

This book was so much fun! I read it twice and will probably one day read it again. Jude Deveraux is one of my favorite authors.
I really enjoyed this book. It has a great story line that I felt was intriguing.

In 1988 Douglass Montgomery is on holiday with her live-in boyfriend in England. After a huge fight with him and his daughter Douglass is left behind with no money or passport. In grief she goes to the nearby church and cries out that she wishes she had a knight in shining armor. Low and behold Nicholas Stafford, the earl of Thornwyck appears out of sixteenth century England. At first Douglass doesn't believe him that he's from the sixteenth century. She finds his way of dress strange, his talk ridiculous and the fact that he doesn't know what a car is or how to use the bathroom is outrageous! Well, eventually Nicholas wins over Douglass and the two are set to finding out who tried to set Nicholas up for treason in Elizabethian times.
After finding no answers, Nicholas finally resigns himself that he will stay in the 20th century and that Douglass is the love of his life. As soon as the two fall in love, poof! Nicholas is gone back in time. Douglass is at a loss, especially since history has altered and Nicholas was beheaded for crimes he did not commit. She is determined to find the answers to clear his name. But as soon as she finds her answers she is wisked back in time to 1560 and finds herself at Nicholas's home, before he was an earl and everybody was happy, although Nicholas does not remember her.

Okay beach reading, but the plot is far-fetched to say the least, and the characters are painted with such broad strokes that they are caricatures of people.
