I really liked this mystery. Della is very likable and I could picture this as a actual TV series. The characters all blended together well and I found it to be a wonderful 1st installment. I can't wait for #2!

Della Carmichael is a middle-aged widow who owns a cooking school. The school is not enough to pay the bills, so when she has the opportunity to host her own television cooking show she takes it. For her premiere episode, Della prepares her Killer Mousse. Unfortunately for Della, the former hostess of her show (who was fired) is present in the audience and chosen to taste test her dessert. When the former hostess keels over after tasting the mousse, everyone realizes that Della's recipes are to die for! Poor Della..... now she is the primary suspect and she takes it upon herself to clear her name.
Killer Mousse is a promising start to the Della Cooks cozy series. Della is a likable heroine, and her standard poodle Tuffy adds a sweetness to the story. For a cozy this book has quite a bit of action, and the love scenes are pretty racy for a Berkley Prime Crime book; the word "breast" is used! The recipes for the foods Della cooks on her show are included at the end.

It stayed real clean in language and morality till about 3/4 of the way through. Did not care for this. Will try next book and if it is as bad will not read the rest of the series.

This book was slow to start and became more interesting as the story went on.
