Cosmetics, food, and murder, all in one book! This was a fun read. Some old characters (Frances the smoking, caffeine-drinking newspaper lady) and some new characters. Goldy really gets herself in some weird situations while Tom tries to keep her from investigating and getting into trouble. Can she catch the killer and cook lowfat at the same time? Read this to find out.

Diane Mott Davidson and her series about Goldy the caterer and the mysteries she gets herself tangled up in are always fun to read.

I enjoyed the theme of this mystery much more than the first 4 books in the Goldy series. In addition to the catering, this one centers on spa products and cosmetics (with some animal cruelty activists) and questions whether or not women are any more pretty for using expensive beauty regimes and is product safety testing worth the cost to animals (and possibly some people?) -- good questions!!
And the recipes given in this episode are...LOW FAT! Haven't tried them yet, but there are some yummy looking ones like low-fat fettuccine alfredo, vanilla frosted fudge cookies and Grand Marnier cranberry muffins.
This is my favorite so far in this series.

Funny -- as usual!
Wow! A murder mystery and low-fat recipes that actually taste good.
Score one more for Goldy.
Score one more for Goldy.
A good mystery, with accompanying recipes.
Goldy agrees to prepare breakfast for a cosmetic company. As she is carrying in food she witnesses a hit and run, kiling one of the cosmetic company employees. Goldy can't resist searching for the murderer. Recipes included in this catering mystery series. The pancakes are good, I have made them several times.
Yet another reason why Diane Mott Davidson is the queen of culinary whodunits.
Again and again, recipes and crime, can't beat that.
Good read, but the story wrapped a bit suddenly in the last 2 pages...
Even the pancake recipe looks good. A fun book to read.
Book 5 in the Culinary Mystery series & the books keep getting better. I think I may have had a bit of an idea of who the killer was, but the ending was still great!
Nothing unusual about this Goldy Schulz cozy, except that most of the recipes are low-fat.
I really enjoy this series of Culinary Mysteries.
This is a wonderful story about the hazards of catering for the wealthy. Hidden among the story are excellent recipes to try for yourself.
Fun recipes included in this murder mystery.
i just love her books and they keep getting better
Try her lowfat fettucine alfredo.Yum!
Caterer Goldy Schulz returns with another food-related adventure and more delectable recipes.
Another of the Goldy the caterer books. These are fun mysteries with great recipes. I've made several of them and have gotten rave reviews.
Another wonderful read !! Enjoyable series and GREAT recipes!
Goldy a Caterer always ends up in the middle of a mystery. Also has great recipes to try. I love these mysteries! Fast, fun read.
The recipe for the Killer Pancakes of the title is great!
This book really missed the mark for me. The overall storyline seemed more disjointed then her past efforts and previously prominent characters barely made and appearance.
Goldy and her Goldilocks' catering company are hired to cater the luncheon for Mignon Cosmetics Company. Not a problem, until she finds out that her usual fare will not do, everything must be low cal and that is not Goldy's specialty. A dessert without butter and cream is not worth eating.
Nevertheless, a job is a job and she must come up with something, little does she know that finding the right recipes will be the least of her problems. Mignon has been accused of animal testing and as she is trying to delivery the food for the banquet she is confronted by an angry mob and as Goldy is trying to battle her way into the venue there is a squeal of tires and one of Mignon's leading sales women is murdered in the parking lot.
Turns out that there is quite a bit of corruption when it comes to beauty and once again, Goldy throws herself into the business of finding a murderer.
As I said, this book was a bit of a let down for me, would I continue the series, I really do not know. However, I do tend to give authors one more chance that tends to lead to two or three more chances when I have started out enjoying the beginning of a series.

For Colorado's Goldy B. Schulz (last seen in The Last Suppers), the catering proves far less rewarding than the sleuthing when she's called on to prepare a banquet for the Mignon cosmetics company. Forced to forsake mayonnaise and butter in this low-fat luncheon, Goldy is in "caterers' hell." But that's a better place than where Mignon super-saleswoman Claire Satterfield ends up?which is dead. According to Julian Teller, Goldy's catering assistant, Claire had recently suspected she was being followed.......

Goldy and Julian cater a Mignon Cosmetics Low-Fat luncheon, battling low-fat recipes, demonstrators, and a fatal hit and run that claims the life of Julian's girlfriend. Then Goldy herself is attacked, and she realizes how cut-throat the world of cosmetics really is.
I really like Goldy so as long as you don't read too many in a row, it is sure to please.
Another helping of Goldy Schultz catering/investigations. Looks at the lengths women will go to look beautiful.
This is the 5th Culinary Mystery featuring Miss Goldy. In this one, all the recipes are low-fat ... As with this entire series, this book is entertaining, has an interesting plot and is a nice, quick read.
This is #5 in the series:
When Goldy, owner of Goldilocks' Catering, faces the challenge of whipping up a sumptuous lowfat feast for the Mignon Cosmetics' company banquet, she rises to the occasion brilliantly...only to discover just how ugly the beauty biz can be!
On the day of the banquet Goldy finds herself confronting an angry mob of demonstrators--"Spare the Hares"--who object to Mignon Cosmetics' animal-testing policies. As she struggles to carry forty pounds of lowfat fare from her van to the mall where the banquet is being held, she hears an ominous
squeal of tires and a horrifying thump. Seconds later, a Mignon employee lies dead on the pavement. And soon the police discover that this hit-and-run was no
accident.
Now Goldy is enmeshed up to her saute pans in a homicide investigation. Could the murder have had something to do with Spare the Hares--or with the exotic flower found near the dead body? Though busy serving up Hoisin Turkey and Grand Marnier Cranberry Muffins, Goldy decides to start digging at Mignon's million-dollar cosmetics counter. But when another murder takes place and Goldy herself is attacked, the caterer turned sleuth knows she must step up hersearch for a gruesome killer. For this time was only a warning. Next time she'll be dead--and it won't be pretty.

Goldie, our Colorado caterer, is still experiencing newly married life and a growing business. At one of the biggest jobs yet, the girlfriend of her asistant is killed in a hit and run. Once again, Goldie gets caught up in the investigation that seems to involve not only herself, but almost everyone she knows! Once again an easy read without the graphics of many mysteries; a little too descriptive for my taste, but still a great story with tasty recipes!
good book
Great series, great characters and yummy sounding recipes.
The book is great and the recipes are terrific.
I read and enjoyed the story. It also has recipes included that the person is using in the story! She is a caterer. Interesting reading, and a mystery. (Suspense)
Great recipes, and a murder/mystery to be solved by a caterer---how interesting can it get?
I love this series of books. The recipes are wonderful as usual.
I just love Diane Mott Davidson and this book was another excellent one.
Includes recipes in the story.
another cute book in this series.
This is the 5th book in the series.
This mystery book also contains recipes throughout.
This is the 5th book in the Goldy the caterer series. This time the girlfriend of her beloved assistant and border, Julian Teller, is murdered. Of course Goldy can't stand by and let Julian suffer, so she pokes her nose into things and eventually solves a murder.
Along the way she deals with her best friend's heart attack, her vicious ex-husband, her new husband, a teenage son, demanding clients, the cut throat cosmetic industry, and animal rights activists. All while preparing delicious low fat recipes.
I really like this series, but I have to admit that I am getting a bit tired of the abusive ex husband drama. I mean, Goldy is now married to a cop, so why wouldn't the ex be arrested when he breaks into their home? Also, how is it that a doctor with anger and abuse issues can hide that fact from all his patients in a small town? I think it's time to ax the ex in the series!
Once again, I enjoyed the many recipes in the book. I photocopy all of them and have tried some. So far, pretty good! In this book, they are low-fat recipes.

An entertaining read as usual
Goldy, of Goldilock's Catering is whipping up a lowfat feast for the Mignon Cosmetics company banquet. But the beauty biz can turn ugly when "Spare the Hares" demonstrators show up and a Mignon employee ends up dead on the pavement.
A culinary mystery starring amateur detective Goldy Bear.
Love these culinary mysteries. Another great read!
Goldy is still at her catering job, gets in the way of a killer and ends up getting attacked herself. Of course, this only makes Goldy mad and makes her more determined than ever to find the killer before he can get to someone else. She cooks up a good lowfat feast while catching this murderer. Good book.
I enjoy this cozy mystery series about a caterer in Colorado. Registered on bookcrossing.com.
