I enjoyed this book, because it is another mystery for Lawyer Mary DiNunzio and also because it was part of the authors family history and she has in the back of the book the photo cards of her parents Registration Cards as 'enemy aliens' as part of the WWII effort by the US government in Feb. 1927.

Enjoyable legal thriller. Great female characters with the lead involved in a pro bono case she's become too close to. A page turner.

good, fast read...covers a lawyer's journey trying to solve the mysterious death of an Italian-American fisherman who was sent to an interment camp during World War II.
Great fast read - this one centers around Mary, a dead man's estate and an 11th hour save in the courtroom.

Another excellent Bennie & the gang book. Some really interesting history in the book and then the facts behind that history at the end of the book.

Mary DiNunzio, a young lawyer, is handed a case of an Italian immigrant, killed while in an interment camp in Montana during WWII. There is lots of history here. I never knew Italians were interred like the Japanese, so it was interesting from that point of view, as well as the murder intrigue in present-day.

How long should you be allowed to be a grieving widow? Everyone is trying to fix Mary up. But all she wants is to be left alone to solve a 60-year-old murder. Her digging worries someone and she finds her life on the line. Fascinating to watch her peel off the layers of time and history. The excitement builds as she races to finish her investigation. Very interesting page-turner.

I really liked this book, featuring Mary of Rosario and Associates Law Firm. She is assigned to a case that takes her back into history research. This book really has Mary grow as a character and become more confidant in her abilities as an attorney.

Mysteries are my favorites, and Lawyer Mary DiNunzio's cases. Italian customs are weaved in to her plot.

Great read by Scottoline. The historical basis for the tale makes it especially interesting. The characters that work at Rosata and Associates, the law firm in the book, have great personalities. Makes it even a better read!!
another winner
Excellent read! Picked it up and could not put it dpwn. Read it in 24 hours!
A fast pacing book that all mystery lovers will enjoy reading.
Excellent mystery
As Nora Roberts says: "Scottoline ROCKS!" This is one of the better novels by Scottoline where she mixes suspense and comedy to make it a fun read. Basically about a lawyer who becomes obsessed with hunting down a ruthless killer while escaping various blind-date romantic rendevous.

Great Mary DiNunzio book - Mary represents the estate of an Italian son. His father committed suicide during internment in 1942. The family secrets that Mary discovers cost anyone associated with the family and even Mary mortal danger.
A really great read with murder and investigation. Taking place in Phila. and very real.

Mary gets in a bit over her head on this one...as always Lisa Scottoline has done an excellent job.. definitely an all night read or perfect for the beach.. didnt want to put it down. bought it Friday finished Saturday night
This really is a train wreak. You can't help reading it even though you can envision that the outcome will be a disaster. This is a great read.
Another great Lisa Scottoline book! I love her books and have read every one that I can find. This one features lawyer Mary DiNuzio's new case of the suicide of an Italian fisherman. Her investigation takes her to Montana, to an internment camp, where he was being held as an "enemy alien" during the war, and back to the darker side of Philly where greed was a good motive for murder.
Loved it. I couldn't put it down. Scottoline brings back Mary DiNunzio back in this suspense thriller. Mary is given a case to solve from the 1940's. As Mary digs up clues and begins to piece the story together-others are doing everything possible to make sure she never learns the truth.
Good story
Another great book from Lisa Scottoline. This one is about Mary's quest to find out about an interment camp and one one the detainees.

Love LOVED this book! Great from beginning to end! The characters are wonderful! I never wanted to put it down! I loved how everything came all together at the end...a heartwarming surprise ending. Excellent writing!
I'm prejudiced, I love this series about the Benny Rosato law firm in Philadelphia and all the characters Scottoline creates. In this book lawyer Mary DiNunzio's new case is a mystery - the strange suicide of an Italian fisherman interned furing a dark, unspoken chapter in American history. Armed only wit the puzzle pieces of a lock of hair, an old photograph and a paper covered with indecipherable doodles, Mary digs into the case and suspects betrayal and murder. She escapes romand only to risk life and limb to hunt down a ruthless killer. But someone in the shadows - powerful, cold-blooded and very deadly - will stop at nothing to keep Mary from the truth.
Fantastic read- you quickly feel like you have known some of the characters for years. I will be reading more of the author's books.

Another of her 'Mary DiNunzio" books. I usually like Scottoline's books but at times this one drug on. But at least when I read more of her books, I will know what they are talking about when they make references to things that happened in this book.

Evanovich fans will be delighted with this new novel, co-written with relative up-and-comer Banks. Working her formula to its fullest, Evanovich conjures the large, close, gently eccentric Madigan family that 26-year-old college student Cate calls her own. An aspiring teacher, Cate studies by day and bartends by night, living in the arty South End of Boston with an often-absent drag queen named Marty (Marta) Longfellow. The perfect living arrangement-"a big strong roommate...not interested in women," plenty of alone time and low rent-turns wholly suspicious when Marty disappears, leaving behind a lovable bullmastiff. Cate's sexy love interest, barroom regular Kellen McBride, is an "independent recovery agent" who believes that Marty is responsible for a string of one-of-a-kind jewelry heists; after Marty's place gets tossed, Cate teams up with him to track down the missing Marty before whoever's after him comes after her. Like other Evanovich novels, there's a madcap race to the finish while mysteries are solved and hearts are stolen; also like other Evanovich novels, it makes a highly satisfying read.
this book was very good i could not put it down at all
I was in a book club and never got the chance to read all the books, including this one.
Clean - Love the Mary Dinunzio character
