This book was a lot of fun. It's like if the Golden Girls were assassins.

What a fun read. I enjoyed every single bit. Just flew through this wanting to see what happens next.
In this story there is a group of elderly women who are on their way to enjoy their retirement from being assassins. Spending a life time taking out the bad guys for a covert company, they are ready for a much needed cruise. Things take a turn for the worse and they find themselves right back to their old job. This time though, they are on their own.
I would love a sequel to this one but if not, still loved it on its own.

Older women often feel invisible, but sometimes that's their secret weapon. Now that they are 60 years old, four women friends can't just retire. Billie, Mary Alice, Helen and Natalie worked for the Museum, an elite network of assassins for 40 years. Its kill or be killed. Now they have to turn against their own organization to teach the Board what it really means to be a woman and a killer of a certain age. This is an action thriller with entertaining bits of humor told in two timelines and narrated by Billie. There is a twist that I didn't see coming which led to an enjoyable ending. This is my first Deanna Raybourn book but won't be my last. If you like a bit of humor with your mystery thriller, then you would love this book.

I'm not a reader of mystery thrillers normally, but this one was a helluva lot of fun! What caught my eye was that the female foursome were older, badass assassins. Every hit had elements of the Mission Impossible tv series; detailed, thorough, and utterly mesmerizing. I can totally see this being made into a movie. Enthusiastically recommended at 4 stars.

Holy SHIT this book was SO GOOD. OH MY GOD!!!

Look, if you think it sounds fun, it's more fun than you'd ever expect. If you think the characters sound neat, they are cooler than you could imagine.

I need more of their stories. I need sequels and prequels and I want to hear about more hits and generally how much they kick ass. Please Deanna PLEASE write more of them!

I was not looking forward to this book and read it out of desperation a few days ago. I am pleasantly suprised at my reaction to the book. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more. Jack

I was attracted to the premise of four older women who were retiring from jobs as specialized assassins for a covert group they called the Museum. Interesting concept, but oh so many holes in the plot. And seriously, these gals are supposedly in 60's, so even if they all worked out every day, I doubt they could handle the arduous physical activities they had to perform. Big gaps in movement and time frames, just hard to follow. Not to mention, it took paragraphs (sometimes a page) to figure out who was narrating. I almost gave up but wanted to see how they accomplished their final kills.

For the last forty years, Billie, Natalie, Mary Alice, and Helen have worked as assassins for a secret international organization called the Museum. They started out hunting Nazis, but eventually were tasked with taking out arms dealers and despots. Now in their 60's, they are retiring and have been gifted with a cruise to celebrate. When Billie recognizes a man she once worked with posing as a crew member, the girls do a little investigating. It soon becomes apparent that they have been targeted for elimination by the very organization that they worked for.

I loved the humor and the action in this book. The story was told from two timelines. In the current time, the women have to figure out exactly who wants them dead and stay one step ahead of the assassins. Flashback to 1979, when the women were first hired as assassins. There we meet several people who the girls now suspect of putting a target on their backs. I thought the flashbacks were necessary to meet the suspects, but slowed the story down a bit. I loved the current storyline where the women must outsmart the people who want them dead. My rating: 4 Stars.
