This is by FAR the best in the series for me to date!!! In this book we find out if Anita is as true to her celibacy as she likes to think she is... we all know that she has stuggled with her own demons...will she break, and if she does with whom will she be with, Richard or Jean-Claude?!?!

I believe I was right in assuming that the books only get better! In the begining it really didnt interest me as much. So if you are like me, PLEASE keep reading!! Push through the beginging stages and you will come to this, which for me was an AMAZING book! Also, if you have liked the previous ones, Im sure you will LOVE this one!!

Anita finds herself being more intuned with a new power with the help of Jean-Claude and Richard. Anita also finds out, yet again, someone is trying to kill her. Only this time they went professional and hired a hit man. Who has put this hit out on Anita, and who will survive in the end?!?!

This is definitely a series for fans of gothic fantasy. I found this book to be excellent with it's story as well as the realistic emotions the characters face. It's sexy, funny, horrific and entertaining. The author does a great job of keeping you glued to the book (unless your tastes run to the mild--if so, this book is NOT for you!--It's a bit graphic regarding sex and violence). I love the variety of vampires, lycanthropes and various magical creatures that show up in the writing. There's so much that this series can do that I'm really impressed. It's a great "monster"-type story that will make you fall in love (or hate) with the characters and eager to read the next book!

Marcus and Raina run the local wolfpack. Richard, one of Anita's boyfriends, has twice beaten Marcus in a fight. But in order to take over the wolfpack, the challenger would have to kill the leader, something that Richard has been unwilling to do. Then Richard does end up fighting Marcus again and the way he kills Marcus starts Anita's breakup with him.

The subplot going on with this is Raina's and Gabriel's foray into making pornographic films. Both are sociopathic, torturing and abusing their actors and even using them to make snuff films. This films are then sold on the internet. Of the two "film makers", Raina is as evil as they come. She tries to make a snuff film with Anita as the victim but, as usual, Anita gets out of the situation just in time.

I kept wondering throughout the book about Anita's fascination with guns. I had no idea what she was talking about as she vaguely described each gun she owned and used for killing. It was as if she was having a love affair, appreciating the differences, with her guns. Could this be the author' way of symbolizing the male anatomy? (Not sure if I'm allowed to actually write the word).

Anita is quite an interesting character. She has two lovers she doesn't sleep with; sleeps with at least one of her guns and another one near her bed; hugs and sleeps with a penguin when she needs comfort; knows how to raise the dead; and, has just about every freak and sociopath after her at one time or another. In this book, she doesn't let us down. The is the pre-Danse Macabre Anita and she's so much more likeable here. At one point, she even cries!

Number 6 in the series. This was a good story. We get to know Edward better in this one.

Drum roll please....SPOILER ALERT.....SPOILER ALERT...



Yes we have a first connection. First real sex scene for Anita and it came with book 6. I do have to say I was a little disappointed. Sometimes the writer made the scene a little to unbelievable. Bodies just don't always bend like that. But....we are talking Vampires here.

It was a good build up to the scene. The ending left me hanging. Richard seemed like a fighter. I guess he is in some areas. I think he gave up way to quickly for my taste. He professed love for Anita would have made for some truly interesting ménage with Jean Claude. I thought that was leading there because he did equate the bite from Jean Claude to sex. But in the end I was left hanging.

However it was a great read. I was truly satisfied at her finally moving forward. I can't wait to start book 7. I see now that Anita will be finding out more of her abilities.

I could not put down this book and read it in 1 day. Anita Blake at her best and forced to choose between Lycanthrope and Vampire vying to be her lover. I am trying to read this series of books in order and this was the most powerful yet. I would strongly recomnmend reading one or two of her books 1 through 5 in the series for background but well worth reading.

This one is a treat because for the first time Edward seems human. He's been a fixture in the other books, but up until now he was nothing more than a hitman. And this is early enough that Richard is still likeable.

I started reading the Anita Blake novels because two of my girlfriends said they were wonderful. One said to read the first three and stop there....the other said to read up to Narcissus in Chains. I read the first three and wondered what they saw in these books. The descriptions and plot are good but the character development was weak. I didn't know a thing about Anita's family until book 4. The Killing Dance is the first time I laughed and felt compelled to keep reading even though I had other things to do. Hamilton gets her groove on in this book in a major way. The relationship with the vampire is compelling. The character development in this book is very good. The plot is incredible. If you can get through the gore to get to this 6th novel, it is worth it. Keep reading.

This is my favorite of the Anita Blake series (so far!). She does a great job in this book in resolving many of the issues the characters have been facing without making the reader hate any of them. This series is a GREAT READ. Since book 3, I have read them all in one sitting, they are just to much like crack to put down.

In The Killing Dance Anita Blake discovers someone has put out a serious hit on her life, shes still torn between Richard the werewolf and Jean Claude the vampire and shes drawn deeply into the tangled politics of the were-pack. Theres isnt much in the way of police work, just a lot of pack power struggles, increased sensual tension and a visit from Edward. Ahhh, Edwards here so I can deal with the lack of Anita working. She needs a bit of a break after Bloody Bones anyway.

If Bloody Bones was Jean Claudes book then the beginning of this one is Richards but that isnt necessarily a good thing for those of us who were rooting for the werewolf. We get to know him better and he shows a lot of weakness and protests his nature far too much. Anita tries to toughen him up and he gives it a go only because he loves her but his heart doesnt seem to be in it. Poor Richard, I wish he had stopped with all the protesting and given in completely to his baser nature sooner, if only to get on with things, because even Ill admit that it made me like him less as a character in this book.

Anita really has her mean on in this book. She is very unforgiving bordering on cruel on more than one occasion. I dont remember her being quite so hard in the earlier novels and shes totally lost her dark sense of humor. She still sleeps with her little stuffed penguin but shes got a mean streak and shes not afraid to let it show. I found myself emphasizing with her less and less as the book went on and near the end I started to actively dislike her. This book is where the series dips Anitas petite little toe into the world of sex and power and her old life of animating and being an almost regular girl comes to a sad end. *sniff*

This one should really get a 3 1/2. It's better than a 3 but it aggravated me too much to earn a full out 4.

Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Extraordinare, is back with another spellbinding adventure that is full of unexpected twists and some eye opening and jaw dropping turns! This time Anita is once again up to her ears in bloody bodies but in addition to her usual corpse raising and vampire slaying she's also being hunted down by the best Assassin money can buy. She's got to figure out who has put such a high price on her head and why. As if this isn't enough to worry about Anita's love life is a major mess. She's torn between her growing attraction and affection for Jean Claude, the sexier than sin Master Vampire who tempts her with his every word, and her loyal and gorgeous werewolf boyfriend Richard who wants marriage and a normal life. Unfortunately, neither is willing to share her on a permanent basis. I can't say enough good things about this sexy and witty series of books. They've got great dialogue, fast paced plots, fascinating characters and _incredible_ sexual tension. Instead of petering out and getting stale like some series do these books just keep heating up! I really love the way Ms. Hamilton is slowly developing these characters and revealing new surprises with each book. The adventures, magic, gore, and creatures are a big attraction for me but the reason I eagerly turn the pages is to delve into these fascinating characters lives and watch the new developments in their ongoing menage.
