I have a rule if I don't like a book in the first 50 pages move on to something else, there are too many good books out there. I did not particularly like the first 50 pages but I kept at it. By page 100 I was more than hooked. This is a wonderful book, the characters are real people faced with the same things we face. Bell is tough but loves her daughter even though sometimes I think she gave her too much freedom.
At any rate, if you're looking for a good read, this is a book to try.
