Found it amazing that all of this was going on during this time. All I could think of was episodes of Miami Vice when I was reading this, it's hard to believe these things really happened. Not as much about US Special Forces as I was looking for, but it was a good book.

Excellent read. I really did not realize this was going on just 15-20 years ago. It's amazing what flat out greed will bring people to do without a second thought.

Coming from a person who has an insiders view of this type of police work, this is a great book and reads like a first rate novel.

Another great book from Mark Bowden, the Author of "Black Hawk Down".

This book is a very well-written, gripping account of not only the hunt for the "world's greatest outlaw" but also of the horrifying climate in Columbia created by the drug trade.

It would be a great read for those who like thrillers, mysteries, action novels and even history buffs, as the author sets up the book nicely with a succinct history of the troubled South American nation.

This book also offers a fascinating window into the U.S. agencies involved in international policing, and details the paradigm shift initiated by the Bush administration toward engaging the U.S. military in its first battle in a drug war.

Not as good as "Black Hawk Down" but worth a read though it gets a little repetitive. Amazing story about how bad things were in Colombia during Escobar's reign of terror.
