Now she's in remote Montana, grizzly country. Fun to read. Strong heroine, well-drawn characters and good locale descriptions.
Enjoyable.

I had heard about the Rachel Porter Mystery Series but didn't buy one until I read something about the author in the CT Post: 'One of the best contemporary mystery writers.' I agree! She writes the kind of books you can't turn fast enough - my favorite way to escape! But she's funny and very bright. A Killing Season was the best in the series. However, in every book she does an excellent job informing readers about environmental issues and endangered species, and how politics and greed and even murder can play an interesting part in these topics - without preaching. They're fast-fun reads and this is the best Rachel mystery!

I throughly enjoyed the entire Jessica Speart series. I would suggest anyone who is concerned with endangered species read this series.
If you like Nevada Barr, you will like this series.
I liked this book well enough to read another from her series, but I was a bit disappointed that the plot wasn't as about the grizzlies as I assumed it would be. Yes, the grizzlies being killed and the disappearing Indians are part of the plot. But a radical militia group takes up a good portion of the plot also. In the end, I was surprised by what was going on, which made for a good ending.
I didn't know if I would like this book when my mum gave to me , but I actually enjoyed it and the suspense kept me reading into the night.
