This is probably the finest one-volume story of The Korean War. I highly recommend it, as it is well written and thoroughly enjoyable (considering its subject matter).

If you are a current or former U.S. Marine, and are not interested in the Korean War as a whole, then read just the chapter "The Fire Brigade," which tells the story of the Marine Brigade at the Pusan Perimeter during this conflict.
