This book, though there are no familiar characters in it, is part of the Ester Ried series, though it can be read alone. (The characters all come together in the last book, Wise and Otherwise.) Dells struggles to live an active, christian life in the small village where her father runs the tavern have been an encouragement to me. Sometimes our situation seems hopeless, but God hasnt forgotten us. The is a favorite book, by my favorite author.

Another good Isabella Alden book! The primary issue--the temperance movement of a century ago--was rather dated, but the characters were engaging and the story was interesting to read.
