Another well written book by Elizabeth Chadwick. I enjoyed the first half of the book much more than the second. The chapeters with Henry II and Ida were quite interesting. The second half of the book was bit rushed, but still good.
Wonderful story about the relationship of Roger Bigod and King Henry II's ward Ida de Tosney. Originally published in the UK as "The Time of Singing", it was just released here in the states. Chadwick is a master at putting you right beside the people she writes about....from the manipulating intrigue of "court" that can change lives in a minute to the subtle but evocative romance of the players. Her research provides the reader the equivalent of participating in a medieval re-enactment. Her prose made me read slower so as to lengthen my enjoyment of the tale. I'm a great fan and highly recommend it.
