Despite Robin Hobb's endorsement on the back cover (which was enough for me to buy the book) I just couldn't stick with the story. I like strong heroines, and this one is quite the warrior, but I found Sulien ap Gwien a bit 2-dimensional and the plot was not gripping enough to compensate for that.

I thought this 2-book series (The King's Peace and The King's Name) were interesting and unusual, with a unique, strong female protagonist, Sulien, who emulates the virtues of a traditional knight. Highly recommended.
