I know this one is very popular, but I hated it.

I never found the hero's actions to be forgivable, and the heroine seemed simple minded (for example, assuming that he was gong to whip her because he owned a whip-- a well-known ringmaster prop). THe setting of a circus was unusual, but ultimately couldn't carry the entire book.

I really loved this book. The plot was quirky, and believable. I would list it on my top 5 favorite books...and I have read a lot. :P I really enjoyed the author's imagination. She definitely let it roam! :) This will be a book you can't put down!

I have to say this is one of the worst books I've ever read. The hero is so emotionally abusive that he should be put into counseling, and the heroine is TSTL (too stupid to live) 'cause she takes it and doesn't explain the "big misunderstanding" that runs through the entire book. Ewww...

I adored watching Daisy grow and mature (she really bloomed! get it? get it?!)

ahem. anyway, one thing I really liked about this book was how all the characters showed development and progress.

This was a beautiful story and I rate it as one of my favorite SEP's because of a great plot! I couldn't put it down. I loved the protagonists and how they came together. The setting was quirky, but worked! I loved it.

I really enjoy this book by Susan Elizabeth Phillips, it may be one of her best. Some of the other reviews mentioned abuse or the threat of abuse, but if you actually read the novel you know that the lead female character is only imagining the worst and the lead male character is actually extremely nice. When he is given time that he could actually hurt her, he chooses a non-violent solution. As a whole, it is a slightly different, but enjoyable romance.

Absolutely adored this book but mostly because of Daisy. I didn't think I would like her but Phillips has a way of making you fall in love with her quirky characters. You also have to suspend a lot of disbelief when it comes to crazy antics of people and there is a very slight supernatural element to it. Yes, it's a dumb book with a flimsy plot but it was so much fun.

This story of SEP's has a circus backdrop and a masterful hero. SEP can certainly write a page-turner, I got sucked in and stayed with it to the end.

I really liked it! I didn't know if I would like it because of it's setting, but it really grew on me. I did not put it down until I finished it! I liked seeing Daisy discover who she really was.

When I first started reading this, I thought, "Oh...not another story like this." Virginal woman forced to marry by a father that didn't understand her. I was nicely surprised because the setting was anything but what I expected (but I won't spoil it for you). Susan Elizabeth Phillips is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

Daisy Deveraux has a choice. She can either go to jail for writing bad checks or her father will pay her debt if she marries the mystery man he has chosen for her. The bridegroom her father chose is Alex Markov. Alex owes Daisy's father, so he has agreed to a six-month marriage. He has no intentions of playing the loving bridegroom. Alex is the manager of a broken-down traveling circus. He expects Daisy to help with the concessions, clean up after the animals, and be part of his act. Daisy's eyes are about to be opened. She's never worked a day in her life and is afraid of the animals. Can she make herself stay for six months?

I read this book when it first came out many years ago. This is a book that people either love or hate. It was my first book by this author and got me hooked on her. I loved the unique circus setting. I loved the humor. And, I loved Daisy and Alex. I decided to listen to the audiobook to see if it stands the test of time. Anna Fields is the narrator and she did a fantastic job. Once again, I am giving this book 5 Stars.

Pretty, flighty Daisy Devreaux can either go to jail or marry the mystery man her father has chosen for her. Arranged marriages don't happen in the modern world, so how did the irrepressible Daisy find herself in this fix?
