I wasn't planning on liking this series. Hell, I had gotten the first book in the series off of paperbackswap.com and I found that I really didn't care for it, so back up on the swap it went.
Then, one of my favorite authors was holding a contest on her LJ to win an extra copy of the second book in the series, that she picked up by mistake. I entered. I figured that if I still hated it, then I could always trade the book away to a good home, and besides, I like the author who was running the contest, so she should have good taste, right?
Book gets here, I leave it mouldering for about a week, then last night I pick it up to read before I go to bed. It's just okay, I keep drawing comparisons to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward, and finding this series lacking, but it's good enough that I read until I can't keep my eyes open anymore.
Then, I wake up an hour early to get some reading in before I go to work. I then take another half an hour from my morning prep to finish the damn book. I put the rest of the series up on my wishlist on paperback swap and get cranky because there are 50+ people in front of me for each book.
All day at work, I'm thinking about how I don't have anything new to read for when I'm dragged up to Maine for a family wedding, and how buying a few books would be a good idea.
Then, to cinch the deal, Amazon.com was running a 4-3 offer. *sigh*
Oh, hell. Lara Adrian's books managed to suck me in. DAMN YOU FOR WRITING FAIRLY DECENT ANGST.

This is the second in the series. Because of that, it is able to take off right from the beginning without having to set-up the premise or do a lot of background explaining.
I have enjoyed both books in the series so far, this is definately a series I am already addicted to.
Can't wait for the third book to come out this December.

I was let down with this book. It was almost the end of the book before Tess finds out that Dante is a Breed, and then the ending just fell flat. You know how the story is going to end, or at least where the final big scene will take place, because of Dante's premonition of death all through the book. I didnt really find the characters to be that deep either. Not much back story told on Tess or Dante which had great possibility, as well as with Tess's secret talent, but it just never happened.

GREAT BOOK!! I really liked this one better than the last. This is Dante's story, and it was great. If you liked JR Wards Black Dagger Brotherhood, you will definately like this series. I can't wait until the next one in the series comes out...Tegans!!

As the second book in the Midnight Breed series - it comes out at you fast and furious! The book not only gives you the romance of the two main characters (Dante & Tess), but also furthers the plot line of the Breed vs. Rogue war with a new twist that is making more Rogues. You learn a bit more about the other warriors and come across some new characters (a nice build up for the next book in the series). The story was non-stop - with great action and steamy scenes - I recommend this book and I can't wait to read the next book in this series!!!

Meh. I do like this series and plan to read further, but I found this particular book...a bit boring. crucial plot elements introduced late in the story - more like an afterthought - gee I need a reason to make them not trust each other. I cared more about secondary characters, the newly introduced Sterling Chase and Elise. Lara Adrian must have agreed since she gave a significant portion of the book to Chase. I thought the main love story seemed contrived. I liked the characters OK but didn't care too much about either of them. worth the read, imo, mainly to learn about chase, elise, and teagan.

This is the 2nd in the series about Breed warriors that protect good vampires and humans. Dante is a breed warrior terribly wounded and in a great need of blood when he meets Tess, a vetenanrian, and takes her blood not knowing she is a Breedmate, a human female meant to be mates for the Breed, until it is to late and he is partly bonded to her. Tess has no idea of the threats all around her until she meets Dante and she finds he is the one she needs for protection and love, but she has a very powerful gift of her own that she hates to use and won't until it is invitable to save the ones she loves. Great book! Can't wait for the next one in the series.

Okay, your typical urban vamp/romance with the lifemates and good vamps vs bad vamps, and vamp classes and such. I like these better than JR Ward's (although they are very similar).

I have tried several of these novels and I would suggust Ward's and Feehan's series over this one.

Not feeling this one. I loved the first book but for some reason this one didn't completely captivate me. I think what is lacking is the characters. They all seem the same and flat. I really wanted to get to know the characters a little more but they all seem the same to me. I certainly hope this trend doesn't continue because I was really looking forward in reading the series to the end.

I didn't read the first book and was able to jump right into the story. Really enjoyed reading about Dante and Tess. Looking forward to reading more books by Lara Adrian.

Even better than the first book! I loved it! This is Dante's story.
2nd book in the series about Dante and Tess's story. You would want to finish it the moment you start it. Love this book.
This is the second book of the series. It's slower than than "Kiss of Midnight" but I think I enjoyed it more. I liked the characters here more, especially the secondary characters of Chase, Teagan, and Elise. I'm actually excited to read more about them. I think it would have been better if they focused a little more on the missing people. I also think it flows a little better than the first one but there are times where there were just too much mundane details that didn't add to the story or characters. I find myself skim-reading quite a bit.
I'll still keep reading the series. I am intrigued by the world Adrian created but I'm not exactly dazzled by the books. It's okay and worth the read if there is nothing else better.

This is a pretty good series. Its dependable in that there is a cute romance, some Rogue vs. Breed action, but there is also an underlined story of Lucan and his "dead" brother who also happens to be the leader of the Rogues. I generally liked it and want to read more!
I liked this book! It was a page turner. Its an easy read with lots of drama, thrills, sex, and vampires! Once my girlfriend is done with my copy I will be posting it on my bookshelf.
Wonderful addition to the series. Really enjoying this series and can't wait for book 3
Hated to finish the story of Tess and Dante. Good characters and the Breed stories are all good ones.
I enjoyed this book so far the series is holding my interest.
A good mystery and lots of action and drama.
too mushy
Really good book. From the back cover: "He comes to her more dead than alive, a towering black-clad stranger riddled with bullets and rapidly losing blood. As she struggles to save him, veterinarian Tess Culver is unaware that the man calling himself Dante is no man at all, but one of the Breed, vampire warriors engaged in a desperate battle. In a single erotically charged moment Tess is plunged into his worldâa shifting, shadowed place where bands of Rogue vampires stalk the night, cutting a swath of terror.
Haunted by visions of a dark future, Dante lives and fights like there is no tomorrow. Tess is a complication he does not needâbut now, with his brethren under attack, he must shield Tess from a growing threat that includes Dante himself. For with one reckless, irresistible kiss, she has become an inextricable part of his underworld realmâ¦and his touch awakens her to hidden gifts, desires, and hungers she never knew she possessed. Bonded by blood, Dante and Tess must work together to thwart deadly enemies, even as they discover a passion that transcends the boundaries of life itself..."

This is the second book in the series. This time the story focuses on Tess and Dante. I found that when I sat down to read it, I had a hard time putting the book down. However, there were times that the story seemed rushed. It gave us a lot of information (probably set ups for future stories) and at times did not truly focus on Dante and Tess. I would have truly enjoyed learning more about these characters. Having said that, the book was still very good and was well worth the time spent reading it. I am looking forward to the third book in the series with Tegan.
Really liked the characters's in this book. Tess and Dante, and how they fall in love.
I liked this book more then the first one in the series!
Great book, couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read the 3rd book in the serie.
Loved the fact that it set the scene for the 3rd book.

This one was so much better then the first of this series. I can't wait for more.
Just as great as the first one! I really would have liked to have seen a bit more about the other warriors that we met in the first book, but it was still great all the same.
A must read for lovers of the vampire race!

A very good series
2nd in the Midnight Breed series.
Dante, a Breed warrior, inherited his ability to see his future death from his human mother. And he's been running from that future his entire life. He believes there is no chance for love or happiness in store for him. Tess fled her home in terror and has never stopped running from her past. When Dante is attacked by Rogues intent on killing him, Tess is the only one that can save him. This meeting sparks a connection that neither can seem to resist.

2nd book of the Breed Warriors. This is Dante & Tess' story. These books are great. Action and romance w/the paronormal. Can't wait for Tegan's story, which is next.
