To say that I eagerly waited for this book is an understatement. I was counting down the days until I could get a copy. Normally with this kind of anticipation I read the book all in one sitting, but this book I was able to put down. I might be alone in this, but I didn't think this book was all that and a bag of chips.

Rydstrom is the king of the rage demons, a kind without a crown and throne. His arch-nemesis, Omort the deathless, has taken over Rydstrom's kingdom and made it into an evil fortress. Rydstrom has been searching for a way to defeat Omort for hundreds of years and finally he has found a way. All he needs is for his brother, Cadeon to find a sword that has been reputed to be able to kill Omort (see this story in the fifth book "Dark Desires After Dusk.") Omort's sister Sabine is the Queen of Illusions and through sorcery she has found out that she is Rydstrom's fated mate (the only woman he can have children with.) Through the prophecy Sabine must bear his child and then sacrifice it to keep the evil side in charge. Sabine captures Rydstrom and tortures him into trying to impregnate her. Eventually Rydstrom escapes and takes Sabine with her, turning the tables and using Sabine as his prisoner. They both are distrustful of the other and continue to treat each other badly.

The book was good, but not as fantastic as I had been lead to believe. The characters were both likable (even Sabine grew on me after awhile, and she's very evil.) Rydstrom was a great hero, and as far as sexy tension and romantic scenes the book was full of them. Sabine may have been hard to like at the beginning, but many explanations were given for why she was so dark and evil and I found it easy to empathize with her. The problem was that I was ambivalent as to whether or not the characters ended up together in the end. They both didn't really seem to even like each other, they both wronged each other so many times it was getting a little bit hard to believe when they finally did fall in love. It was a good plot installment in the "Immortals After Dark" series, but I preferred many of the previous books much more. I hope the next one will be about the Valkyries or Sabine's sister Lanthe, no more rage demons for me please, I've had enough.

I'm such a huge fan of Kresley Cole I drove like a rage demon to the bookstore to get this book day it was released. I admire Cole's writing because she's one of the few paranormal romance writers out there who can actually write WELL. But I'm sad to say that along with other reviewers, I found this title the least captivating of the series. I never really became invested in Sabine and Rydstrom and the book was darker and angrier than previous books in the series. It's worth reading to follow the series, but it doesn't have quite the humor and snappy dialogue that I so loved with Regin, Nix, Emmaline, Mariketa and of course the swoon-inducing "men" of her previous 5 books.

I love most of Kresley Cole's books, but something was missing in this one. I love the werewolves and the vampires. What can I say, this was a kind of blah. Hope her next one is better.

This is a good book. It would be a better book, if I didn't already know where they are eventually going to be, due to the previous book. Because I already knew this, I was a little frustrated trying to get to that point for the first 300 pages. So because of Ms. Cole's unfortunate tendency to overlap books, this story drags a little and thus is not as good as it could have been.

Once I finally passed that point, the book did get REALLY good. Loved the last 100 pages the best. But I liked the previous book, about Cadeon, better.

I loved this book! I love the whole series, too. This one had conflicts between H/H like the others but I thought it was very funny. There was more humor around the evil powerful sorceress. I laughed out loud several times. I think the humor offset the dark life the sorceress had to endure. Still had Hot Scenes, lots of actions, Valkyries, Witches, Bad Sorcerers, Werewolves, Demons, Vampires etc. I love the Demon King's story and I enjoyed him & his brother in earlier books.

I must admit I hung on to this one for a while. The first few chapters were like chewing on sour grapes. I had a really hard time understanding what was going on in the first chapter. After The first 6 I think I gained momentum and enjoyed it. I don't think I will be reading another one from this series right away. This book ended on a good note, but not worth the struggle.

I like this Immortals after Dark Series, but this story is not her best. This "King" doesn't seem to care for or about "his people" so that made me not really care what happens to him & the story just didn't flow like others. Strange things happen, then are ignored, or maybe what happened next was edited out, so I found the story line disjointed. wish the Valkerie had more parts in the book, they are interesting.

Meet Sabine, sorceress, and the Queen of Illusions. She's evil, and the sister to Omort the Deathless, a sorcerer who took over the rage demon kingdom of Rothkalina.

Meet Rydstrom, rage demon, and the rightful King to Rothkalina. Also, he's Sabine's fated mate.

Sabine is working with her half brother Omort on some prophecy where she bears Rydstrom's heir, and opens the Well of Souls, a well in the throne room of Tornin, Rothkalina's castle. Rydstrom is captured, and held prisoner by Sabine, where she wants a vow to make her his Queen, them married, and then she would be able to bear his heir.

But the problem is, as fate often intends, even when couples seem so different from each other, they're often perfect. Sabine and Rydstrom start falling for each other. However, since they've both laid deceptions, will they be able to overcome the lies and fall in love?

Kresley Cole has done it again in this stunner of a book. Kiss of a Demon King will make you weak in the knees with wanting, and desperate for a happy ending.

Rydstrom is a wonderfully good demon and king, and Sabine is so different, so, not necessarily evil, but definitely not good and pure as Rydstrom would like. They have lots of fights, and lots of antipathy towards the other, and their banter is great at times.

It's hard seeing them fight what they both desire, but the end is totally worth it. This is a great book from start to finish, and definitely worth the read.

What a ride! The action and adventure kept me glued to the book. I finished this in two days. There's so much humor. The opening chapter with the storytelling at the insane asylum had me guffawing a lot. Reading a book like this is a treat. I love the world Kresely Cole has created. She manages to make demons, vampires, fey, Valkryie, werewolves and humans live in a world that is believable and fascinating. Kiss of a Demon King is not a stand alone book. You need some familiarity with the previous stories in the Immortals After Dark series to truly enjoy it.

The heroine in this story, Sabine, has magical powers. She can create illusions that are very realistic. She's the type of heroine I love. She's very witty, merry, strong without being ice-cold, capable and unafraid of sex. She is neither good nor evil. Complicated is the best word I can use for her. The hero is your usually caring, incredibly sexy alpha male. He also happens to be a rage demon and their king though he is extremely virtuous, unlike Sabine. They had a lot of sexy scenes. A lot. No complaints from me there. If you're bothered by graphic language, this book isn't for you. The hero and heroine brought out the best and worst in each other. They're both extremely strong-willed. Much of the story was a battle of the wills. Neither one gives in easily. These two really don't know the word "compromise." I felt at times the slightly BDSM relationship they had was emphasized over the budding romance, but other than that minor quibble, I would recommend this book to others who like the IAD series.

Another winner from Kresley Cole. The story around Rydstrom and Sabine is great. I hate to give any details because it would never do this series justice. Pick one and read it and you'll be hooked just like me.
