This was one of the silliest things I have ever read. To be fair, I don't believe in psychics, and only read the book because I love the show Medium. I suppose I was looking for specific information to back up her claims of being a psychic crime-solver. I shouldn't have been surprised not to find any. A lot of her "psychic" ability sounds a lot like plain old intuition and luck, and her chapter on telling the difference between a psychic child and a mentally ill one....well, I won't spoil the funny parts.

I got to page 59 and just stopped reading.
I decided I love the TV show Medium but this
book isn't what I had hoped.
Many may find it spiritual and interesting,
I found I need the inter-action between the TV
characters to enjoy her gift.

I wanted more detail about her predictions, rather than other details of her life. I love the TV show.

A very good book about the abilities of Allison Dubois. She can see the dead and give messages to love ones. She speaks of her spirit guides whom direct her to through her passage of life. Her guides have actually saved her life twice and helped her through the death of loved ones. She has helped police find missing people as well. I enjoyed the book and passed it on to my mom and my sister, whom is also a medium of a different type.

Really not what I thought it would be. I wanted more about her powers and how she has dealt with them. It does have those stories but just not enough of them in my opinion.

Although a bit disjointed, this was a fascinating look into a connection with the spiritual world beyond this one. Although a skeptic and a scientist, I felt that this author was genuine about her experiences and had some good insights and could give a lot of comfort to those who had lost loved ones.

Series is MUCH better than the book. She came off as very self centered, arrogant..the whole book was nothing but about her and her family. Was very disappointed in the book.

I loved this book! I could so relate to everything Allison said in here and it helped me to know that I'm not the only one with abilities. What a detailed gift she has and it's so cool to see how many lives she has touched. Great book - quick read too.

Autobiography of Medium Allison DuBois telling her own story in her own words which is the inspiration for the television show "Medium", loosely based on her experiences helping the DA's office solve crimes and find missing persons in Arizona. The book is a good read for anyone who is curious about people who can contact those who are no longer living, as well as a peek at the everyday lives of such people who are as normal as anyone else except they can speak to/hear from the dead. I found it a good read.

I couldn't finish it. I really like the idea, I like the show Medium, but the writing turned me off. John Edwards book Crossing Over was much more readable.

this is a interesting book for someone who believes. i expected it to be more like the show, but its more about different events in the authors life that have defined her life.

Narrated by the author (the woman the TV Show "The Medium" is based on), this book is much more practical that you would guess. Allison tells us of her real life experiences - and the REAL life of a medium. Her matter of fact approach to the subject is really appealing, and she gives excellent tips for the rest of us....

I was so disappointed in the writing of this book. The author has a great story to tell, but instead offered it with preachy, disjointed and frankly unsatisfying snippets rather than a coherent memoir. I'm actually not even sure how she came up with the title. Obviously she is an intellegent and compassionate women, but it's hard to see in this book. I really struggled to finish, hoping it would get better. It didn't.

In this book, Allison Dubois (basis for the TV show "Medium") tells of her life-long psychic abilities, including seeing future events as well as "speaking with" the dead.

The cases that she has helped to solve are interesting as well as her take on psychic ability in general. This is a good book for believers and skeptics alike.

Although written well, I didn't care much for the approach A. Dubois
took in this book. A few good stories, but there could have been more of what she does working for the District Attorney's office in Phoenix, AZ. Disappointing if you are fan of the show "Medium."

So I bought the book and read it. It's brief and to the point; most autobiographical and overall as unconceited, without false modesty though, as is possible in a biography. I think I actually LIKE Allison Dubois as a person, and I think she may be truly intelligent, unusually gifted and, above all, genuine. All of which would make her into a most remarkable human being. My rating of three instead of a higher one, is because the author recorded the book herself and I have found professional readers do a much better job than most authors.

What a lovely and compassionate woman she appears to be. Reading this I didn't get that suspicious sense I frequently get when reading those millionaire pyschics. But I was bored, and disappointed, because I really expected more detail and there was actually very, very little of that. I am surprised her editor didn't call for some serious changes in the manuscript. Keep in mind, the purpose of this book was mostly to guide the parents of children who are showing signs of mediumship. Yet, even there, there was not much. Still, I would love to meet this woman and have a reading by her. She seems so genuine.

Death is a funny thing. It brings out the best and worst in people. It casts light on the truth and makes life blindingly clear.

Her visions have helped solve crimes; her instincts have helped find missing people; she can predict future events and sense your thoughts.

There are some of the extraordinary gifts that define the remarkable Allison DuBois, the real-life medium, wife, and mother whose life i the inspiration for the hit NBC television series "Medium".

In this stunning book, Allison share fascinating stories of her encounters with people who have apssed and her adventures as a profiler for various law enforcement organizations. With wit and compassion, Allison shows us what it is like to live with these special gifts and talents and also tells about her struggle to live a normal life as a devoted wife and mother.

While interning in the homicide bureau of the district attorney's office,Allison DuBois found that she could do something remarkable. As she laid out crime scene photos and gathered information, she realized that she could see the crime through the eyes of the perpetrator and the victim. This experence propmted Allison to examine the full extent of her abilities.Instead of trying to supress her gifts, she decided to fully own them.In this fascinating book Allison chronicles her visions through the thin veil between life and death.
