At the beginning of the book, I found myself frustrated with the mother. The main character, a teenage boy, was so lonely and I just felt so sad for him. As the story unfolds and you come to understand the reason for the mother's reclusive behavior, then your attitude changes about these characters. I really enjoyed this book, especially the fact that it was told from the boy's point of view. I found the plot to be interesting and thought provoking. It made me wonder what I would do had I been in Adele's position.

It was like my fingers were stuck to the pages and I couldn't shake the book loose. There was no coming up for air until the end!! Bizarre, creepy, strange, oh no she didn't, wonderfully engrossing, unforgettable story. I might have to read it again!!! It drained me...in a good way.
