The Labors of Hercules (Hercule Poirot, Bk 26)
The Labors of Hercules - Hercule Poirot, Bk 26 Author:Agatha Christie On the verge of retirement, Hercule Poirot can't resist the lure of a seemingly unsolvable series of recent crimes--from a lost Pekinese to a man driven mad by love to a gentleman poisoned by gossip.
These are twelve quickie seemingly innocuous Poirot stories. Near retirement, Poirot takes on these unusual cases: for him at least. Few begin with murder; some have none. A kidnapped dog, a young girl disappears from a train, a swindler organizes a pseudo church, etc.: each case symbolic of one of Hercules labors from mythology. Easy to read, short on investigation, all relying on Poirots extraordinary power of insight. A good book for the waiting room.
