Grab the kleenex, You will need them when you read this one. Sharon Rocha shares her heartache, her confusion, her anger and her true feelings about Scott Peterson before & after Laci's murder. I laughed at her light hearted wit and cried with her heart-wrenching pain.

Such a heartbreaking story. I'm not sure why I was so compelled to read this book, except that, like everyone else, I was so drawn in by Laci's beautiful smile . . . and the outrage that ANYONE could kill someone so beautiful, both inside & out . . . and the baby she was carrying as well. That the murderer was her husband is incomprehensible. Her mother shares the story of Laci's life and the trauma of those horrible months not knowing what had happened to her. Quite literally, I didn't want to read it, but then I couldn't NOT read it, if that makes sense.

Now that I'm finished reading it, I'm so glad I did. My mother's heart aches for Sharon and her loss . . . but I thank her for sharing her story. I pray God helps her find peace.

I have been reading much about the Scott Peterson and Laci Peterson disappearance case. This is a must read to get some of the inside information and how the case unfolded in the eyes of the closest family members. With this, you get much of the background of Laci Peterson herself. Very interesting reading.

I loved this book. I followed the story when Laci went missing and really looked forward to reading the book from her mother's point of view. Sharon Rocha wrote from the heart and it came through on the pages of the book. Thank God Scott Peterson was found guilty and is in jail. Unbelievable that someone could kill their wife and unborn child!

This was a wonderful book written by Laci's Mom. Very sad but at least I know what I was reading was true. Definitely worth the read.

This book was wonderfully written. It brought Laci to life and brought her into your heart. Sharon Rocha takes you on her journey from start to finish in this book. When she talks about joy you feel joy, when she talks about pain you feel pain. It is rare to have a book that does that. It also answers any question you have about the case straight up and straightens out any rumors or inaccuracies that are out there. It is a great read and hard to put down once you start. For me personally this especially hit home because I live 10 minutes from Modesto where Laci was from. It is proof positive that monsters are everywhere.

I read this book many moons ago, right after it was first published. Written by a mother, feeling in her gut something was "seriously wrong" with the disappearance of her daughter.. her journey to the truth of Laci's disappearance is heartbreaking-This book held my attention and was finished in a couple of days. An easy read. I find myself thinking about this book from time to time.

This story moved me to tears several times. Sharon Rocha explains a mother's love and grief with raw, powerful emotion.

This book was well written and heartbreaking. Laci's death was a compelling and sensational news story when it hit the media. The country was in shock that a husband could kill his gorgeous pregnant wife. This book will help you get to know the real Laci Rocha Peterson. Getting to know this family from Sharon's perspective will drive home the true evil of what Scott Peterson did. Even though I knew the outcome, I was compelled to keep reading. Sharon Rocha's pain and loss is searing, but Laci's light shines through in this tragic book about one mother's very personal loss.

As heart breaking as it was to see the Rocha family endure the loss of both Laci and Connor Peterson, I am sure writing this book was very cathartic for Sharon Rocha. There were times I felt I could almost hear her questioning Scott, yearning for Laci and then feeling an ending, though no joy in Scott's conviction. The story sometimes reads as though a previous relevent part of some episodes were cut leaving me questioning if I'd accidentally skipped a few pages. Mrs. Rocha also goes on a bit with the people who were there for her, supporting her and her family. However, other than a half dozen key people, all the names somewhat blend together, not adding much to the value of the book content.

Hard book to read since I'm a mom and cannot even imagine what this woman went through. Also because it happened so near to where I live and I knew some of the people involved in helping in the search. I am so sad for this poor mother and for Laci and Conner. It's good to see some justice in this world although no amount of justice will ever replace Sharon Rocha's loved ones.

I enjoyed reading this book about what Laci's moma, Sharon went thru. That may sound horrible to say "enjoyed" but I did.
We all can only imagine what Sharon and her family and friends went thru. My heart goes out to them, learning to live their lives without Laci!
I think this is a good book. I learned about what all happened when Scott murdered Laci and Conner, and I also learned how the love of family and friends can get us through anything we are faced with in life.

This book really touched me emotionally...what can you say about reading the loss of a mother and her best friend(daughter). My mom and I are close like them and I couldn't help but read this through her eyes and through my own being a mom myself...This is heartbreaking....Scott Peterson is a horrible human being and should be forever tortured for what he has taken away from all these people. I wanted him to hurt badly. I liked reading Sharons point of view although it was sooooo sad I was very intrigued by her story since I was the same age as laci and also 7 months pregnant when all this happened...May laci and connor rest in peace and may god give sharon and all of laci's family and friend strength.

This book was so good I could not put it down. I could literally feel the pain that Sharon Rocha was going through when they could not find Laci. There was so much stuff that the public did not know and it all comes out in this book.
I love the way she turned something so awful and horrible into a law and she still has Laci's website up and running.
Way to go Sharon and I am very sorry about your loss.

I read this years ago so I can't say much more than I loved this book. I wish it didn't have to be written but I did love it. As another member said, you really do get to know Rocha.
Everyone knows about Lacy and Conner and most people followed the story as it happened on the news. Besides the facts gleaned from the newspapers and news channels most of us were in the dark. Especially about the Rocha family. This turns that around.
No Mother and Grandmother should have to go through what this woman had to and still has to.

Excellent book, but definate tear jerker. There are so many times when I wanted to stand up and shout and celebrate each little victory along the tragic way, but so many sad times also. Have the tissue box ready.

Well done. I've lost a child, and much of what Rocha wrote resonated with me. She does a fantastic job explaining what it's like to lose a child.

Laci Rocha Peterson, 8 months pregnant, was last seen by her sister, Amy, in the late afternoon of December 23, 2002. She spoke to her mother, Sharon Rocha, at 8:30 p.m. that night. This would be the last time anyone from her immediate family ever spoke to her.

A search began which lasted an agonizing four months. Sadly, Laci Peterson and her son Conner were found dead on the shores of San Francisco Bay on April 18, 2003.

Her husband, Scott, was eventually arrested and charged with the murder of Laci and Connor. After a sensational, media-saturated trial, Peterson was found guilty of capital murder and was sentenced to death on March 16, 2005.

This book deals with the story in three separate sections: first, Sharon describes the ordinary, loving life her daughter led, including fond memories of her childhood and adolescence. Second, it covers her marriage, disappearance, the community's moving search for her, and her and Connor's eventual recovery from San Francisco Bay. Third, it tells the story of the trial in detail not before revealed. Sharon will also talk about victim's rights, a subject on which she now campaigns regularly.
