Good clean cozy mystery. The main character inherits her grandmother's home in Maine. Her grandmother was well known for her embroidery skills. She finds a piece in the attic that has people embroidered on it which was not typical of her grandmother's work but it is her grandmother's work. She works with others in the Maine community to find out who the mysterious lady in the embroidered work is.
I figured out from the beginning who the mysterious lady was but did not know the reason behind it until the end. Would have liked a little more action in book. This is a series of books called Annie's Attic. One thing that bothers me is that these books are not going to be written by the same person. That bothers me. When I start a series I want the series to be written by the same person.

This a great first book in the Lady in the Attic. One that will keep you turning the pages. Can't wait for the next one to come out.

A great read, I really enjoyed this book. Annie from Texas inherited her Grandmothers house in Maine, Grey Gables. She finds a cross-stitch canvas in a frame of a young lady in the attic, and with the help of the Hook and Needle Club, tries to find out who the lady is. Join Annie and her new friends as they unravel the mystery of The Lady in the Attic.

I thought this book was awful. The writing is amateurish, the storyline is weak and repetitive, and I wasn't at all invested in the characters. I'm truly surprised by the positive reviews for this one.

A gentle tale of mystery, and sewing/knitting. The setting in Maine is interesting, as is the old house and the repairs in it. The theme of all the women with their various trials, secrets and blooming friendships is also engaging. However, it is a simplistic read, and not for those looking for a real jaw breaker of a mystery. If you like cozy's and the Hallmark Channel, you will enjoy this story as well.

Book one of Annie's Attic Mysteries
A PBS friend told me about this series and I'm so happy she did. Great start to another cozy series.
Although I've never gotten to visit Maine, the setting has always fascinated me. This one does not disappoint! I enjoyed it immensely and can't wait to start book two.

This book was just wonderful. Has a built in book marker, I love when they include those with hardbacks. Ok that has nothing to do with the story. I found I wasn't able to put this book down. It totally draws you in with characters and locations you love and hate. You have the grouchy, sarcastic lady you wish for in books like these. As well as the good hearted people. Spooky moments, sad moments and an ending that rocked. The writer did wonderfully relaying the beauty of the Maine town but didn't go too in depth, it was all just right. This is a must read. It is the first in many more to come but written by different authors each time. That makers me nervous, but with a first book in the series like this I am willing to keep going in the series. 5 stars on this from me. I loved it!!
"The Lady in the Attic" is just a nice non-murder, soft mystery. Annie Dawson looses her husband and then her grandmother who had been living in Maine where Annie had spent her summers as a child. She leaves Texas and her daughter and grandchildren to return to Maine to settle her grandmother's estate. The mystery starts when Annie finds a recent cross stitch that her grandmother had left in the attic. It contained an image of a lady and unlike any of her other work. The mystery is about who the lady in the cross stitch actually is. It is a sweet story of how old friends reconnect and how new friends are made. The entire summer and experience helps Annie move beyond the loneliness of loosing her husband. I was surprised at the non positive reviews. It is a nice, engaging story but definitely not hard core mystery or suspense.
A quick book, full of nonsense and fluff! Just Okay.

There are Cozy Mysteries and then Corny cozy. This book does not have a murder, just a good clean mysterious cross stitched framed Lady in the Attic. No Peril, no Sex, No swear words, no violence, no murder. Not that a book needs that to be a good book. A simple story about friendship and bonding as this group tries to find out who the lady is.
Look at some of the reviews, If you know some of the reviewers, as I do, I think you can agree that this book was slow, dull, and not too clever. But if you really like and prefer squeaky clean novels, you will love this. There is not anything religious in this book, just a clean nancy drew like mystery.
I was expecting this to be more dramatic, and more secrets revealed kinda book. I think there are better books out there, and you will be better off passing this one by and reading those other books on your to be read pile.

I think that people like her are the target audience, and I am not the target audience. Overall I could not recommend this book to my PBS friends.
