This was a great book by an awesome writer. I loved the similarities to Beauty & the Beast, but was even more enthralled by the differences. This was definitely a unique twist to the classic. I read through the entire book without stopping. Two thumbs up from me! I'd give it 3 if I had them!
Impoverished aristocrat Isabella Vernaducci would defy death itself to rescue her imprisoned brother. though fear formed a fist around her heart, she'd even brave the haunted, accursed lair of the lion - the menacing palazzo of legendary, lethal Don Nicolai DeMarco whose growl was velvet, purring heat - whose eyes held dark, all-consuming desire. And when the don commanded her to become his bride, she....
Good Book.
Even though I could live without the sex scenes, I found this book to be most enjoyable. This is by far my most favorite 'adult' retelling of Beauty and the Beast. The characters seem real and there is so much mystery that you are compelled to stay up late till your eyes can no longer stay open just to see what is going to happen next.
Definitely a page turner and I loved the romance development of Isabella and Nicolai. I will say that this book itself is quite similar to her other book The Scarletti Curse. Very similar in that they r in Italy and there's some of the italic Italian words thrown in, as well as a similar story line, but I still loved it. It's better than the Scarletti Curse for sure.
I recommend. Think you'll like it's simple easy quick read.

Good as usual from Christine Feehan.
I love Christine Feehan's imagination! This book was no exception. It was different, intriguing and kept you wondering. And, of course, it has a great ending! The only part that bothered me a LOT was the abuse and multiple rape of a very young girl. I thought that could have been changed to something less upsetting. It wasn't talked about in a lot of detail but enough that it turned my stomach. Still, this was a fun book to read and I had a hard time putting it down.
Was not one of her better books.
I really found myself enjoying this book though there were some things that I could have done with less...fewer declarations of love for one. However the book help my attention all the way through and I found myself surprised when the villian was revealed. I was not expecting the ending to happen as it did either. Overall a good book.
If you love "Beauty & the Beast" tales - you will love this book! It does not follow traditional B&B stories fully, but adds some twists and turns. Great love scenes and action/adventure scenes. You can feel the love blossoming and bubbling up between the characters. Both the female and male characters are strong in their own ways. Another great book by Christine Feehan! - I just could not put it down!
I always feel lucky when I find a romance that is followes the themes of the old fairy tales; in this case "Beauty and the Beast". I got tired of some of the "steamy" and one too many realizations/declarations of love but still very enjoyable.
Excellent series!
Loved the book!
This was a great book, but I would have been disappointed if it wasn't because Feehan is a wonderful author.
Only mildly apart from her more popular "Dark" Series, Christine Feehan weaves another tale of shape shifting, animal instinct and the shadow side of carnal pleasure. A fairly gripping tale with a hint of suspense makes this an interesting and gripping read.
Good book. Different story line.
little slow at beginning, but picks up about third of way in. Not as good as her dark series, but okay.
letting it go, cleaning off the keeper shelf....good book!
ok book by a good author.
One of her best that I've read.
Very good story.
Great book, couldn't put it down.
Lots of heat between protagonists. Didn't want to put it down for the most part. The kind of romance I love.
different story line from carpathians
magical and sexy. Isabella risks her life to save her brother. she gets more than she bargained for when she finds the rumors surrounding her hero are true.
good read
A Beauty and the Beast retelling (for the most part), that was a bit of a Gothic romance... while not Feehan's best, it was still a pretty decent read.
Though the heroine was constantly bursting into tears, which was a bit trying, and made me want so slap her a few (thousand) times.
There were also some side stories that effected the overall plot, that could have been fleshed out more, as well.
But altogether, it was a pretty good book that's easy to get through... Though it wasn't as "hot" as some of her more recent titles.

One of her worst books. I kept waiting for the story to begin.
I have always loved Christine Feehans books! I can't put it down once I open the book.
She views him as a man, everyone else views him as a beast. He has a hard time opening up his heart to Isabella and she fights to get him to show people some respect. Love the story adds a different version of the all time classic Beauty and the Beast.
