Well, this book starts out with a young woman (Leigh) that becomes a young mother. But very odd circumstances come to play with the said father of this child. The child, Deana, ends up having some very odd things happen to her as well. I don't want to say too much. But what I can say is this is a great book. It has some minor gory parts, involving a killer, but nothing that would be considered TOO gross. I really enjoyed this book, and it really made me much more interested in Richard Laymon's other books.

Leigh is a beautiful girl, eighteen years old, headstrong and rebellious. All she wants from her summer by the lake is a chance to relax and have some fun. But her summer fling will lead to terror. That night in the old abandoned house will haunt her nightmares for the rest of her life.
Eighteen years later, Leigh's daughter, Deana, doesn't know much about what happened to her mother all those years ago, and she doesn't particularly care. She too is looking for fun. What she finds instead is a shadowy figure out for blood-and his own twisted kind of fun. Killing Deana's boyfriend is just the beginning. Before he's done, both mother and daughter will be plunged into a whirlpool of fear and madness, from which death is the only escape.

I didn't find this Laymon book as good as others I have read of his. Don't like books that jump around alot like this one did. Was an ok read though.

I read everything of Layman's I can get my hands on and have most of his work. from what I understand this one was done by his estate after his death polished up from and old manuscript... outline... rough draft... etc. His daughter works a lot with this and cemetery dance magazine. If you've never read the CD mag check out their web site and order a copy... worth every penny. This book is pretty good.... just moves around a lot.

I found this to be just a little bit slower paced than Laymon's usual fare, but it was still a good read.
A girl and her boyfriend are terrorized by a maniac with a meat cleaver. While the girl tries to cope with the aftermath of this attack, her mother finds friendship and romance with police officers assigned to the case. But, unbeknown to her, danger will come from a new source...
Good and suspenseful.

I gave this one a *****5-star rating, as it was "the" very best one so far by this author. It does not let up! Its like being on a roller coaster, thru out the whole book. I totally loved this one, and may re-read someday. Thumbs-Up to Laymon on this piece.

Awesome story. Richard Laymon has to be one of the best horror writers around.
Great book.... couldn't put it down! It grabs you right from the beginning. One of Laymons best stories yet. Loved it!
I've read several of Richard Laymon's books, and this was by far the WORST. It started out fairly good, captivating, but then dwindled into nonsense. I was very disappointed...
I very much enjoyed this "later" Laymon novel. His skill at creating great characters keeps me reading.
Like all of his books this is a great read!
Interesting book, but too overly involved. I have read several books from Richard Laymon and he has a strange mind. I thought this book was entertaining, but a little too many plots going on at once. I didn't feel some of it came together enough to include it in the story line. Hard to explain without giving away the ending, but suffice it to say, it was very "out there". If you like Richard Laymon's style of writing, then you may like this one as well.
Very good book-- also a good ending.
I have seen the future of Horror, and it is (the late) Richard Laymon . . .
Leigh was young and adventerous. Her adventure at her Aunt and Uncles lake-side cabin would come to a fearful ending years after her visit to....The Lake
Laymon freaks me out as usual. Love him.
Laymon at his best!
You always get caught up in a Laymon book and this is no exception, however about the middle of it I thought it got kind of boring it seemed to slow down with not much happening but then it takes a turn and you'll be turning pages faster and faster.
This was my first Richard Laymon book and I am sooo glad to have found such an awesome horror writer. Ive recently ordered many of his novels and thought Id start with this one. I loved it. The story had me caring about the characters, talking out loud to them, like ,"Dont go over there..Dont do that.." The story is a very unique one and I didn't realize the killer till way late into the book, it kept me on my toes and I read late into the evening, a true page turner. Not gruesome, not really bloody or anything at all. Just a great story all around.
