I really like Lauraine Snelling's books. Even if I skip a book in the series because I don't have it it is still very interesting and absorbing. I love seeing how the different characters fit in.

Book Three in the Red River of the North Series. I would recommend reading the books in order because they all follow the same main characters. Six books in the series and it's really like one big long story, but a very interesting story!!
