This book focuses on self-esteem and acceptance. Although daily topics & meditations are designed to help recovering codependents they are just as effective in helping anyone gain control of their life and feel good about themselves.

Melody Beattie, the bestselling author of Codependent no More and Beyond Codependence has now created Hazelden's first meditation book for codependents. There are reflections that nurture spiritual and emotional health, serenity, and recovery. Focusing on self-esteem and acceptance, and written in the direct, unsentimental style of Beattie's bestsellers, these daily meditations give voice to the thoughts and feelings common to men and women in recovery. They encourage fruitful reflection on so many great topics.
"stopping the pain and gaining control of your life".
The Language of Letting Go Cards are a beautifully illustrated deck to live in the here-and-now and by doing so, you will allow life to happen instead of trying to force outcomes. Great companion for the book and longer.

This book is outstanding for the person who recognizes that they are co-dependant or have grown up in dysfunction. It gives both practical and inspirational tips in very short daily readings.

A friend recommended this book to me, what a soul uplifting book. A must have for all people pleasers and co-dependents. This is HELPFUL.
Obviously this little book covers a very specific "flavor" of topic. And the little daily bites are just the right size to be a gentle reminder to yourself. They aren't all touchy-feely; nothing in the book is about blaming others, most of it is about You, and being responsible/accountable to You. But that quick reminder to focus on one aspect makes it easy to keep on track.
I actually went ahead and bought a copy to gift to friend.

I have read used this devotional for several years and given it as gifts to friends. I feel both encouraged and challenged by the readings. It is appropriate for someone newly identified as co-dependent and for those who have worked for some time on this challenge.
