Definitely a historical fiction about a young Roman whose life is entwined in the true history of Britain, when the Romans left the island nation to defend Rome, while the Britains were left to defend themselves from the Saxon Hordes. It also relates, to readers, what historians believe could have been the true story of King Arthur (who may not have been a true king).

I've read all three books in this series and enjoyed them.
This final one was very different than the first two. At first, I knew I wasn't going to like it. Even about half-way through I still didn't think I liked it. Only after I reached the final chapters did I realize it was the best of the three.
