I enjoyed this novel even though it's not that great. I read some of Burnett's books as a kid and when I saw this book as an adult was intrigued but the summary on back. It's listed here as a children's book, but I think it's more easily read by adults, in part because of all the passages written in local English dialect. The novel is set in a small British mining town, and deals with all kinds of interesting issues of class and gender. If you're interested in 19th century British history and fiction, you may enjoy this, especially alongside some of Elizabeth Gaskell's works. Don't expect the Secret Garden.
