This Star Wars series is by a Hugo Award winning author, much better than the average run of the Star Wars books.
I love Star Wars books and this one was great!

Book 3 in a 3-part series. These books were a lot of fun. They moved really fast with a lot of action. Timothy Zahn's story starts up right after the movie Return of the Jedi. The new republic has been formed but some emperial elements still exist, some strong enough to return the empire to power...what happens? Read the books and see!

Great read!
This is the end of the trilogy that started it all! A great ending. The best character in this book is the main bad guy, Admiral Thrawn. He steals every scene he is in.
Great book...Timothy Zahn is an excellent writer and got me into the Star Wars extended universe!
From back cover: The conclusion to the epic adventure begun in Heir to the Empire & continued in Dark Force Rising, this final volume spans a galaxy in flames, as the Empire threatens to engulf the New Republic and its brave defenders.
In this third and last book in the series, the Grand Admiral is planning a final attack on the New Republic with an army of clones and even Luke Skywalker has been cloned. This novel continues the Star Wars saga and brings it to new heights with a very surprising twist at the end!
The Last Command was my favorite book of the Thrawn Trilogy.
All of the main characters are fully developed, and Leia Solo finally has her twins.
This final book really delves into the silent struggle between Admiral Thrawn and the Dark Jedi C'Baoth for the remnants of the Empire.
It is written with a great understanding of the ships and machines used in the Star Wars world, and the character dialogue is very interesting.
The only thing that prevented me from giving this a full five stars was the whole cloning thing. It could be a little disconcerting to some people, and a bit creepy. That is the only problem with this book, and I think it is great for children 11 and up.
I would give an indepth review, but I think you should read it for yourselves and find out what a great writer Timothy Zahn is.
All I have to say on an ending note is this: Mara Jade is amazing.
