I'm writing this review KNOWING that I will probably get a lot of "Unhelpful" votes but here goes. I absolutely LOVE Shelly Laurenston/G. A. Aiken....but this was not a great book. I can't even believe I'm saying this. Usually her books have a wonderful combination of Romance, Passion, Action, and Humor. The best romance and passion in this book came for the side characters, not the so called "couple" in this book.
This book was suppose to be about Keita the Red and Ragnar the Cunning. In past books, we have seen that Keita does not have the best reputation. But here we find out that she has more to her than her lustful ways. Ragnar, who is a Lightning Dragon from the North is now in an alliance with the Dragon Queen. I felt that there was not enough attention paid to this couple. Most of there interaction had several other people around them...very few moments for them to be alone to get to know each other. There was very little intimacy between the couple. It felt more like..."I don't have anything better to do, and you're here".
The good thing about the book was finding out what has happened with the past characters like Annwyl, Talaith, Izzy, and the dragon brothers. I'll admit that after 200 pages, I stopped caring about the relationship between Keita and Ragnar. I finished reading to find out what would happen next between Eibhear and Izzy. And that's the wrong reason to finish a "Romance" novel...to find out about other characters...not the main couple. This felt more like a continuation of Annwyl's book and not a stand alone romance novel for Keita and Ragnar.
Where has the writings that I have loved from this author gone? I'm hoping that her next book will give the main couple the romance and passion they deserve. It's nice to catch up on past characters, but they should not take over the book. As a series about Annwyl, it was fine. As a romance about Keita and Ragnar....it was not.

It's a good read but Keita's facade personas do get tiresome. And it takes Ragnar rather a long time to figure out that they are a facade; especially for a dragon who is known as 'Ragnar the Cunning' and the person who trained Dagmar.
We see lots of the characters from previous books and some great new characters are introduced - especially Ren who is an Eastern dragon with some very neat powers.
Read in order, definitely read in order!
Dragon Kin
Grandfather Ailean's story appears in Everlasting Bad Boys (2008) (with Cynthia Eden and Noelle Mack)
1. Dragon Actually (2008)
2. About A Dragon (2008)
3. What A Dragon Should Know (2009)
4. Last Dragon Standing (2010)

After reading the reviews for this book, I was very worried. I really loved the first three books in this series and was excited to finally fit this one into a challenge. I don't understand how anyone could not enjoy this book. Ragnar - the purple dragon (gotta love it) and Keita - a dim-witted she-dragon (or so he thought) are a perfect match. There is turmoil and unrest between the dragon lands. The Northlands (Ragnar's people) and the Southlands (Keita's people) reluctantly join forces to fight the dragons and humans from the Ice Lands. The battle itself does not occur in this book but it is definitely set up for the next.
The she-dragons (Keita's sisters and sisters-in-law) are vicious critters. They fight amongst themselves worse than the men do. The verbal fights are hysterical and made me laugh out loud. Keita is an incredibly strong and independent female and doesn't want to be tied down not even by her very purple dragon. Ragnar knows enough not to talk of love to Keita but he's smart enough to work around Keita's many limitations and get the ultimate reward.

I have to agree with Chelsea. I think I have higher expectations from G.A. Aiken's books then from other writers. I was not happy with the interaction between Keita and Ragnar, not very romantic. But it was great catching up with all the other dragons and their mates. And I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series.
I bought this book to add to my collection but sadly it will not go on my keeper shelf.

What fun. I do enjoy this series. I wish the author would write them faster. This is the fourth book in the series and I urge you to read at least one of the first 3 before you read this one. They are the most fun read in order.
