The Last Good Day is one of the books that took me forever to finish. I already forgot most of what happened in the plot.
It seems the author didn't really care about the readers thoughts. The feeble attempt to draw the reader into the even more feeble plot by mentioning 9/11 a few times, didn't really work. After all, the plot hasn't really much to do with 9/11 or its aftermath for the people in the town.
Shallow characters and unbelievable actions by police and protagonists leave a bad taste in my mouth. I definitely won't read Peter Blauner's books again. This one is just too bad and boring.

This was my second Peter Blauner read....it was a little slow in the beginning, but quickly got to that "I can't put it down" stage. In all, a great book that keeps you hooked till the very end!
Blauner is one of my favorites ~ the tension builds and builds and you just know something's gonna blow, but when and how is still a major surprise...

A woman and her family have moved back to safety and comfort of the small town where she grew up. The idyllic setting is ruined when her best friend is found murdered and the cop in charge of the case is a stalking ex-boyfriend who won't leave her alone.
I really enjoyed this book. Set in the weeks following 9/11, this book underscores the idea that terror can come from those we know, not just from outsiders. The tension is palpable in this novel and the plot leaves you guessing the identity of the murderer.
