The Last Letter from Your Lover is an engrossing book that tells a love story that spans over 40 years. The book begins in the life of a wealthy young couple in the 1960s. Jennifer Stirling has just been in a car accident and has lost her memories. She finds letters that indicate the existence of a love beyond her marriage. The first part of the book drifts back and forth telling the story of that affair as it happens and her attempts after her accident to recover those memories. It is almost as if we learn of the events as she regains those memories also. It puts the reader in the book. The remainder of the book tells a more chronological story about 40 years later. You can see the ending coming, but that does not make it any less enjoyable.

Another fabulous story from JoJo Moyes.This was written before she struck it big with Me Before You.
This is a love story that spanned the years.Confusing at times, because I usually don't pay attention to the dates when chapters begin, especially when I am reading like crazy because I cannot wait to see what happens next!It jumped back and forth to more than two time periods, so keep track or you will get confused! Anyway, it's the simultaneous story of two women, buth involved in extramarital affairs,and the lengths that people go through for true love.

This is a curious love story, or rather double-love story, perhaps. The main events take place at very different times: in the 1960s and then in 2003.
Jennifer Stirling lives a life of quiet desperation, it seems, until she sees a way out. But before she can take any route she is in a bad automobile accident and cannot remember much. Her husband Larry takes her home from the hospital and she tries to make all the right motions but does not know what is expected of her.
Jennifer's story is told in a back-and-forth manner, going back and forth in time in the same year, so it is not immediately obvious what happened consecutively. The book starts with her waking in the hospital, but then the author gradually fills in the blanks until we have a pretty good idea of Jennifer's life and loves. She does not appear to have great love for her husband but she does fall for someone else, and this love transcends whatever she might have imagined love to be like.
It is not a simple matter for the two lovers to be together, however. One obstacle after another stands in front of them, until we do not know whether they ever got together. Until the last part, in 2003, when a young reporter discovers some letters.
These two love stories, intertwined, did appeal to me. It may have been that I was just in the mood to think about what it means to be in love, what the nature of love is. Or perhaps the author did a good job of presenting these couples in a believable way. Either way, I did enjoy it.

I could not put this book down very good
A realistically and charmingly written love story, which spans generations. Missed chances, bad timing, and ill advised liaisons all culminate in a dazzlingly romantic and satisfying story. Love is the same no matter what era or time it is being felt in. A timeless and enjoyable read, whether on the bus, on the beach or in the bath
The Last Letter from Your Lover is a wonderful love story. It follows the lives of 2 couples. It reads a bit like 2 separate stories, one from the 60's and the other occurring 40 years later and how the time period influences each story.
It makes you think about marriages and how well you know the person you marry. I have many friends who married young only to find out they were not really compatible.
In this story, the two people realize that they made bad choses the first time and even after 40 years when they finally get together, it was worth it..

This was an okay read for me, because "just" love stories aren't really my genre. I like a love story with some more substance, more mystery and something that makes it exciting! Didn't find it here,

Such a sweet story. Couldn't wait to see how it ended.
