An excellent read, both my wife and I found it to be a compelling story that we hated to see come to an end.

I really enjoyed this book. Great likeable characters. As the title might indicate, the plot twists, turns, and toward the end surprises.
Any book written by John Irving is worth reading. he is by far my favorite author. I've only just begun Last Night in Twisted River but already he has taken me to a completely different way of life with interesting people. I expect to enjoy every minute of the adventure.
Once again, Mr. Irving did not disappoint. I had a little trouble getting started, not being very interested in the logging industry, but once the story got going and the characters became real, I was hooked and couldn't put it down.
I won an ARC of this book in the first reads giveaway!
This was my first John Irving novel. I liked the story, but it had a VERY slow start and a lot of rambling on about unimportant details.

I just could not get into this story. I got half way through & then stopped. It was too slow for me & the story dragged. I have read several other Irving novels and loved them so I was surprised by this one.
A good John Irving outing - really plot-driven. If you've read any Irving before, you know what you're getting into. More like Garp than any other novel of his I've read, maybe because the hero is a writer.
Funny, though, there's no bears in this one.
Ha! Did I get you? Probably not. Of course there's bears!
