Evan Smoak is on his way to the hospital to check on Mia when he is captured by Agent Naomi Templeton and her Government Agents. President Victoria Donahue-Carr gives him an ultimatum. She will let him live if he eliminates a very powerful man who has some senators in his pocket. This kind of work is against everything that Evan stands for. He decides it won't hurt to look into Lobbyist Luke Devine, the intended target, to see if a hit is justified.

This is the 8th book in the Orphan X series. I liked the first half of the book when Evan was captured by the government. I also enjoyed the portions with Joey, Tommy, and Candy. The rest of the story seemed to meander along while Evan investigated Luke Devine and his minions. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
