THE LAST QUARRY by Max Allan Collins: Quarry, Collins hit man that he put to rest many years ago, is retired and living in the Minnesota woods. He accidentally gets involved in rescuing the kidnapped daughter of a Chicago media baron, who then wants to hire him to kill a young librarian in Colorado. When he winds up falling for his target, one Janet Wright, Quarry begins second-guessing his assignment and experiences an uncharacteristic change of heart that almost gets him killed. The latest from Hard Case Crime bringing back the best of the pulps in new adventures.

One of the Hard Case Crime series of wonderful noir mysteries, this one brings back Max Allan Collins' famous hit man, Quarry. Quarry retired years ago, but comes out of retirement for one more assignment. The writing is clean and crisp, the story is interesting, and the noir atmosphere is a lot of fun for those of us who relish such things. I was not a Max Allan Collins fan until Hard Case Crime starting publishing his books. Now I'm hooked....
good quick read - worth your time - another Quarry novel
The first Quarry book I've read, and it won't be the last (although it is). Max Allan Collins has written a book that's a veritable guide to How to Write a Thriller! Don't miss it -- but probably better to read the others in the series first.
