I found this story immensely enjoyable: if you like the Celtic faerie tales, this one is particularly moving. Even if you aren't particularly into the Celts, you might enjoy the Church history in it (it involves Saint Patrick of Ireland.) It's a story in a vague vein related to the Mists of Avalon, but I enjoyed it far more.
