This book blew me away. I love how Richelle Mead wrapped up everything. I loved how everything connected and there was no rough edges. Everything was believable. I liked how we got deeper into characters that she just blew off in her other books. Like Sydney, Serena, etc. I didn't really like how she left some characters hanging though. I wished we would've found out what hold Abe had over Sydney. I wasn't really pleased with how things turned out with Adrian either. But the way she put it with Rose and Adrian's past, you knew that things would get better for them.
This was the best vampire series I had read. It was mature, and full of twists and unexpected turns! Beautifully written, it will stay in my mind for a long time!

I'm not sure how I feel about the end of this series. Overall the book and the characters were in keeping with the rest of the books. Young people acting their age, thinking they're more mature and experienced than they really are, etc. Entertaining to read, not particularly edifying. Rose has always been rather unlikable, nothing changes in Last Sacrifice. In fact her character is further impugned by her extremely shabby treatment of Adrian and to a lesser degree Sydney, Eddie, and Jill. None of this was really unexpected except I'd hoped we'd see Rose maturing and learning life and character lessons though all this. But around book four, some ideas began to come out that I was very disappointed to find completely unresolved in the final book. I guess I thought where Mead was going with all this was to make Rose a catalyst for change. I'm an adult reader just reading these books for pleasure. Yet I find myself feeling like Richelle Mead is doing young adults a disservice with this book and the unresolved BIG issues. I refer to racism. To me the undercurrent through most of these books is the real imbalance in the relationship between the Moroi and the dhamphirs who serve them in slave-like fashion. They are expected to "put Moroi first", risk or even sacrifice their lives for these people who basically don't pay them, make them live in dorms, accept punishment even in their private lives, serve those who think dhamphirs can and should be conscripted into service, and they don't even have a voice in the government. I never really saw any reciprocity in the relationship between Rose and Lissa and even after book four, never got the impression that Lissa wasn't just a spoiled selfish child who occasionally did something for Rose bc it's "right" not bc she really wants to. I think the idea was to show that the dhamphirs and the Moroi have a symbiotic kind of relationship, that they need each other to survive. But the dhamphirs are treated as servants or slaves. There is no respect for them among the Moroi except in a very condescending manner. That this issue was left unresolved and kind of unaddressed is not just frustrating, it makes you wonder about the author. She clearly brings these concepts into the story. What does it mean that this is left hanging, almost not even addressed? What is the takeaway here? Life's a bitch and then you die? It's okay to be a slave? Its okay to have slaves? In the adult world you just have to accept things? I don't like these messages. I'm not suggesting the message is Teen Saves The World! But the youth voice can be very important in our society. Youth votes and actions can effect change. Why not show that here? I hope teens who read these books finish with critical thinking rather than the takeaway that second class citizenry is cool.
I have loved this series since the beginning and I am really looking forward to the movies. To me this series is more mature that the Twilight saga, and where as the TS was a good series to start with this series is so much better. I really liked this book, its not necessarily the way I would have liked it to end, but non the less Richelle Mead is an awesome author. Like her other books this one had some twist that you never would have seen coming, and that is normally hard to do for myself. I would love it for this series to continue from Rose's point of view, but the way it ended left it to where that would not be as entertaining as it has been. I have heard that there will be more VA books just not anymore of Rose's story, I think it is left to where there a few characters that the series can continue from, but whether she will continue with the story from where it is or start with a completely new set a characters is anyone's guess.
This is the sixth, and final, book in the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. Mead has stated that while there will be spin-off books of this series, no more books will tell Rose's story. This was an excellent conclusion to the series, if a bit predictable at times. I can say I was thoroughly pleased with the way everything is wrapped up.
This book starts with Rose in prison for killing the Moroi queen. She is quickly sprung from jail by her friends and Dimirtri. Dimitri, Rose, and Sydney go off on a mission to find Lissa's lost family member and to try and clear Rose's name. Meanwhile back at court Lissa is also struggling to clear Rose's name while opposing some of the harsh measures the Council has forced on the dhampirs.
This was a satisfying conclusion to the series and I was pretty happy with it. The story is mainly told from Rose's point of view, although she spends plenty of time in Lissa's head so you can stay on top of what is happening back at court. Rose and Dimitri spend a lot of time together so there were lots of wonderful scenes featuring the two of them. All of the little bits of plot come together nicely in the end.
The book moves along at a good pace and is never boring; I whizzed through this almost 600 page book and had trouble putting it down. Mead has a wonderful writing style it is engaging, easy to read, and sounds very natural.
I have a couple small quibbles. The things that went on in this book were a bit too predictable. Basically everything happens exactly how you think it will (except for one item at the end). On one hand this was nice because none of the characters got beat up too much, on the other hand I would have liked to see more surprising twists and turns. The other complaint is that there are a lot of things left hanging, not with Rose's story, but with others. So, you can definitely tell that this is being planned for spin-off series. Adrian, Sydney, and Jill in particular have huge unresolved issues at the end of this book.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and thought it did a great job bringing this fabulous series to a close. I really enjoy Mead's writing and am excited to see what she comes up with next. I was a bit disappointed that this book was so predictable and left a lot of the other characters hanging. Still that didn't detract much from what a wonderful book this was and how nicely it wrapped up Rose's story.

Ive remained loyal to this series, and love it from the beginning. Ive laughed and cried over these books. However I just cant say I loved this one. I found myself totally hating rose by the end. I think the author tired too hard to make this a happy ending. I would have loved some sadness other than a broken heart. OH maybe a death; or something more interesting like a kidnapped Adrian or maybe he turn stragori on purpose. Those would have made it up to par with the other books. She left the book where she can now take the individual characters like Lissa and Adrian and write spinoffs to make them happy too. : ( Im not a big fan of the lets have a happy ending so I still have characters to make my spinoff with. Sadly I was greatly Disappointed with pretty much the whole book from start to finish.
*Spoilers*
I love Dimitri and Rose together before he was kidnapped and turned. After Blood Promise I pretty much was finished with them being together. Id come to like her and Adrian together and I felt they were much healthier together. However the author didnt feel the same way no she had to literally break Adrians heart by making Rose CHEAT on him. I totally feel that Adrian was justified in treating Rose the way he did in the end. Sometimes you just need to be pissed off at someone.

Rose is in jail, awaiting her trial for the murder of Queen Tatiana. Rose isn't good at being patient and away from the action. She can't stand being locked up. It's driving her crazy.
Then her father lawyer comes for a visit, telling her the trial date has been moved up. Instead of having a month, they might have two weeks. Rose knows that's not going to be enough time to uncover the real murderer.
She doesn't have much time to worry, though, because on the date of the funeral, her friends break her out of prison. Now, she's on the run and supposed to go into hiding.
But Rose never does anything the easy way. She also has a secret to uncover from the late Queen. Can she clear her name and put the kingdom back to rights - or will she be forever on the outside?
LAST SACRIFICE is a perfect ending for an amazing series. I love Rose for her feisty behavior, for her loyalty, and for her moral compass. I'm going to miss reading about her adventures: the danger, the friendship bond, and the romance.
VAMPIRE ACADEMY is simply a marvelous series.

Such a bittersweet ending. I hate to see this segment of the series end. This is a fitting ending. I adore all of the characters. I can't wait to see the next segment.

If you are like me and have struggled through this series, take heart [book:Last Sacrifice|6527740] finally lives up to the hype! It is action packed with multiple thing going on and loose ends are finally tied up.
1. Queen Tatiana has been murdered and Rose is the prime suspect and in jail.
2. Even though Dimitri has been returned to dhampir status, he is under house arrest on suspicion of it being a trick.
3. Rose has received information that could help Lissa in Court, after all, she isn't eligible for voting privileges since she is the final Dragomir...or is she?
4. After the jailbreak, Rose and Dimitri are on the run trying to decipher the clues and determine if the rumor is true.
5. In an effort to help Rose, Lissa, Adrian and Christian are trying to discover who actually did kill Tatiana.
6. Victor Dashkov and his brother Robert reappear to actually help Rose. Yeah go figure.
7. And a few other surprise appearances from earlier characters.
All in all a satisfying conclusion to an otherwise mediocre series.

First off,it wasn't long enough. While 594 pages seems plenty, there a few questions I had at the last page. but,it was awesome and I can't believe this is the last one.
Great book! Loved the happy endings for everyone. So many twists and turns right up to the very end. Well worth reading!
Finally a happy ending!!!!
The best book of the entire "Vampire Academy" series!! It will have you screaming in frustration and crying with joy because you can't help but root for Dimitri and Rose, and yet you want Adrian and Rose together as well. This book wraps everything up nicely.
Loved this series, I hated when this book ended.
