ISBN 0553280031 - He's not a genius. And he doesn't have the answer way before you do. In fact, you might get it long before Inspector Morse. Doesn't matter, though, because the twists and turns this tale takes will have you second- and third- guessing yourself. Upon the death of another detective, Morse is handed a missing person's case that is already several years old. Seventeen year-old schoolgirl Valerie Taylor went missing one Tuesday, never to be seen again, even as a corpse. Morse prefers corpses, perhaps only because they hold still while he works - and Valerie holds still like a wisp of smoke. The characters that peopled her life all seem to have some possible motive for killing her, but if someone did, where's the body? And if she's dead, what's she doing writing letters to her parents? Finding the answers is fun, especially when you're doing it with a dirty old man like Morse.

This is another of the "Inspector Morse" series that BBC made such good Mystery Theater productions on PBS.
Valerie Taylor has been missing since she was a sexy seventeen, over 2 years ago. Inspector Morse (also my favorite British detective), is convinced she is dead. But suddenly a letter shows up from her saying she is alright and not to worry????? Maybe he will get the body he wants, but will it be the right one?
A great English cozy mystery with Inspector Morse. You will love the way his mind works.
Typical of Inspector Morse to bewilder his co worker and act the fool he is, but he gets the job done, even if in a round-about sarcastic way.
Being a really great fan of Inspector Morse I am
biased toward any cases he has. Mr. Dexter does a wonderful job of creating his plot. His descriptions of locations and crime scenes cannot be beat.

It's Morse. What else needs to be said?
