As a psychology student interested in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with goals of working with the OCD population, I found this book extremely fascinating. The first person narrative offered tremendous insight into the head of a teenage girl with OCD. Stone has covered her bases well as she conducted research prior to writing this book and I have to say, it is evident throughout. She hit the nail on the head. The added boy crush, secrets, poetry, and Sam's popularity on the line added some more flavor to the drama.

The one criticism I have to point out however is that the relationship between Samantha and her therapist is not entirely accurate. Going into this field and observing CBT therapists in action myself, I have some knowledge about how the system works. The impression I got from Sam's therapist felt more like a mentor or wise older sister rather than a cognitive behavioral therapist.

Besides for that point, I thought "Every Last Word" was super interesting and well worth the read, particularly if you have or know someone who has OCD but also if the topic itself fascinates you and you'd like to learn more about it in real-life situations.
