A light cozy mystery with a touch of humor. If you enjoy the writings of Selma Eichler, then you will enjoy Laura Levine.

I put off reading this series for so long, I sure wish I had picked up this series earlier, it is a gem. I do love the wacky emails from her parents, I love that she will say something really really snarky, like what she is really thinking but says, " I really didnt say that".. I said of course "the polite thing: whatever that may be. This does not get old to me, cause it is the way people want to speak but we say the safe thing. She is fun and real, and her best friend is likeable and so is her neighbor. I liked the mystery in this one, it wasnt the oh so obvious person, and the mystery had many layers of possible killers. You will love how the characters are all connected in some way to the victim.

This will be the last one I read in the series as the main character annoys me. The author could do so much more with Jaine, but she makes her into a repetitive, low self-esteem kind of person that is rather unappealing. I love a good mystery, too bad this one isn't it! The way Jaine is always faux replying to people and saying "I didn't really say that, what I said was..." just bugs the heck out of me. It was funny a few times, but gets overdone by the end of the book. I won't be continuing on with this series.
