A light cozy mystery with a touch of humor. If you enjoy the writings of Selma Eichler, then you will enjoy Laura Levine.

I put off reading this series for so long, I sure wish I had picked up this series earlier, it is a gem. I do love the wacky emails from her parents, I love that she will say something really really snarky, like what she is really thinking but says, " I really didnt say that".. I said of course "the polite thing: whatever that may be. This does not get old to me, cause it is the way people want to speak but we say the safe thing. She is fun and real, and her best friend is likeable and so is her neighbor. I liked the mystery in this one, it wasnt the oh so obvious person, and the mystery had many layers of possible killers. You will love how the characters are all connected in some way to the victim.

Another great installment to the Jane Austen series! Jane writes an episode for a sitcom and gets to be behind the scenes as it gets rehersed and tapes, but then there's a murder on the set. I love Jane's witty humor!

Fun easy read. Light hearted, good book to read before bed won't leave you with nightmares. This is what I truely call a cozy book.

In this second book in the series featuring Hollywood freelance-writer Jaine Austen, Jaine lands what she thinks is her dream job as a guest writer for a Saturday morning sitcom called "Muffy and Me". Jaine quickly discovers that the job is not what she expected, and things go from bad to worse when the hunky co-star of the show drops dead on the set. When Jaine's best friend Kandi Tobolowski is fingered as the prime suspect in the actor's murder, Jaine goes to work sleuthing on her own, with hilarious consequences.

This book is a hoot!!!! It is about a sit-com writer who writes for a crazy new sit-com where the heartthrob drops dead!

This will be the last one I read in the series as the main character annoys me. The author could do so much more with Jaine, but she makes her into a repetitive, low self-esteem kind of person that is rather unappealing. I love a good mystery, too bad this one isn't it! The way Jaine is always faux replying to people and saying "I didn't really say that, what I said was..." just bugs the heck out of me. It was funny a few times, but gets overdone by the end of the book. I won't be continuing on with this series.

Last Writes is a fun easy read. It let's you take a peek into the writers room on a TV sitcom.
It's a fun way to see if you really want to be that TV writer you think you want to be.

Great story. good read.
when a no-good heartthrob drops dead after nibbling a poisoned doughnut, Jaine isn't terribly surprized. But who could have done it? A competitive co-star and a couple of scorned lovers top Jaine's list of suspects, but the police have zeroed in on her man-crazy pal Kandi. Now Jaine has to figure out who finally stopped Quinn's cheatin heart--before her best friend ends up behind bars...
A Jaine Austen Mystery. Writer, Jaine, finds herself in trouble once again as an actor on the sitcom she's writing for turns up dead.
Jaine gets a job writing for a sitcom in Hollywood.
Funny and enjoyable Jaine Austin mystery.
I didn't find this second book of the series quite as "laugh out loud" funny as the first, but it's definitely a fun series with plenty of wacky characters and a surprise ending.
A quick, enjoyable read!

Very funny mystery. 2nd in the series.
I really love the series, although I think the plot is a bit redundant. But it is very funny, and great short reading!
Boring. It never ceases to amaze me how poorly written a published novel can be. If you at all enjoy a well writen book, this one will be a disappointment.
Fun series. Quick read.
