The final book in the Lake and March trilogy. Very good if you like mystery, romance and a touch of goth.

This is the third book featuring Lavinia and Tobias ... and this book reads more like a murder mystery than a romance novel. Tobias is haunted by the memory of an old friend who turned out to be an assassin. While Tobias knows that the assassin has been dead for three years, someone has turned up imitating his methods. It is up to Lavinia and Tobias to figure out the mystery before anyone else dies. This mystery kept me guessing right up until the very end ... very entertaining!
The third book in the Lavinia Lake/Tobias March saga. While Lavinia & Tobias continue to both irritate and arouse each other, Emmeline & Anthony's story comes to a beautiful conclusion. They balance out Lavinia & Tobias, who increasingly come across as combatants rather than lovers, although Tobias's efforts to secure some alone-time with Lavinia were funny to behold. Currant jam, anyone??
This book ended on a strangely incomplete note, as thought there was more to tell. Indeed, Lavinia's observations about Tobias's growing power to unwittingly mesmerize was fascinating and I wish the author had done more with this. Dare I wonder if there will be a 4th? Should you wish to read them in order, they are: Slightly Shady, Don't Look Back and Late for the Wedding.

AMANDA QUICK aka: JAYNE ANN KRENTZ I didn't realize they were the same author. I liked it. The book is set in Regency England. A pair of lovers are partners in a fledgling private investigating firm. They are both saddled with younger charges, so they must really work at cozy interludes. In the middle of all this they solve several murders as they manage not to get themselves killed.

A weekend retreat for a wedding is expected to be an escape to romance, but when an old girlfriend enters the picture, things change very quickly.

An invitation to a country house party provides a perfect solution to Tobias and Lavinia's most exasperating challenge: how to escape the chaos and prying eyes of London for a remote, relaxing - and above all romantic - retreat. But the lovers' plans are foiled when their first cozy interlude of the weekend is disrupted by the appearance of a stunning woman from Tobias' past....
I enjoyed this book. It's the return of Tobias and Lavinia, and the characters work well together. Some good twists and turns.

Just could not get into this book and I have plenty waiting to be read................I'm not really into historical romances and I think that's what this book was leaning towards.

Title "Late for the Wedding" did not relate to plot really, but I enjoyed the story regardless. Evidently part of a series of continuing characters, this is the first I had read of them. The author is one I have read and enjoyed previously, however.
