I am very divided on this. I had never used Lauren Lukes videos, but liked I could have this book to refer to. I loved the feel of the book with lots of bright colors. I liked a few of the makeup looks, but felt a lot were too out there. I agree with the other reviewer that most of the looks do not really look like what she is copying. I find that hard to understand considering people rave how closely her looks match up. I tried two looks and thought they did not look like the intended look so stopped trying after that. My other problem was that she describes the colors needed, but doesn't given an example. Even if she had just given a reference to her makeup line it would have helped explain the colors needed better. Not impressed.

I love Lauren's youtube videos, so I was happy to find this book at a great used price on Amazon. However, while it still contains tons of tips, I felt that the whole feel of the book had a "teen" feel to it, which I am definitely not.
There are 25 celebrity makeup tutorials. Lauren starts out each one with the pic of the celebrity with makeup. She then tries to copy that look and then ends with a pic of herself with that look. I think some of the looks that she finished with, while very pretty, didn't look very similar to the look she was trying to copy. Some of them, she didn't replicate that closely at all. Yet the end result was nice. Just very different. Twiggy is a prime example. (you'll see what I mean when you get the book.)
This being said, I would still give the book 3-4 stars, just because of the 200+ pages of information it contains. Perhaps the "teen" feel was meant to be cute and upbeat. I'm on the fence on that. I wished there had been more of a "instruction/pic" step-by-step format, but it is more of a "written instruction/end-result" format. Perhaps that is exactly what makes her videos so invaluable. It's not something that can be translated into a book. Zoom Zoom
