Very sad and nicely written book about the famine and its aftermath. The images are so vivid, I kept wondering when the movie would be made. The book was so interesting that I am now reading more about the Irish potato famine. The book is certainly worth reading.

It was very well written from a sort of dreamy-inside run of sad thoughts about his life, what was happening to him, what was happening around him--almost like you were looking out through his eyes hearing what he was thinking and could not share with others. The entirety of it though (subject and incidents) did not in my opinion rate 5 stars.
