a forgettable book
This book took me a little while to get into, but overall was enjoyable.
Funny and sophisticated, should be read along with Le Divorce by the same author. Great writer!
Paragraph chosen at random: (p136)
"Craycame back just as Clara was being led out. She seemed calm enough, but she was in handcuffs. She looked pleadingly at him, trying at the same time to give a reassuring, if ironic, smile. He was stymied for a few seconds, then hurried to his car, scowling and cursing violently. He didn't suggest that Delia come along."

Okay read. Not the worst I've ever read and some better than Le Divorce but not my type of book.
It was hard to get through.
