This is a wonderful book for learning calligraphy--whether you're a righty or a lefty (lefthanded; which I am personally), the directions are full and complete. Nothing is left for the beginner (or more practiced) to have to wonder how X was done, how Z was made, or how the process of C came about. The author gives permission to copy off practice pages (and believe me, you'll need 'em!). She gives a very interesting history of calligraphy; she provides many beautiful photos and drawings of how the letters are supposed to look, and she even (very generously, in my opinion) gives the reader a jumpstart into making money with calligraphy. The subtitle is "The Complete Book of Lettering and Design", and this is a most accurate one-line review of a truly beautiful book concerning one of the 'gentle arts'.
