This "bright, funny and poignant" memoir [Publisher's Weekly] is fun to read and also inspiring. Buchwald overcome a lot of adversity in his life due to his mother's mental illness and his father's limited earning ability. He actually was inducted into the Marine Corps and made the most of it. Without preaching or offering gratuitious advice, he provides a model for all who aspire to make lemonade of the lemons in their lives.
THIS IS A STROY ABOUT HIM FROM BEING A ORPHAN FROM BORN.FROM A SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST SHELTER TO NEW YORK'S HEBREW ORPHAN ASYLUM TO A SERIES OF FOSTER HOEM-ALL BEFORE THE AGE OF FIFTEEN..HE DECIDE AT A YOUNG AGE HE SAID HE WAS GOING TO BECOME HUMORIST. 40 YEARS HE MADE PEOPLE LAUGHT
Sad to listen to Art's voice telling his life stories, but this is a great memoir.
Always enjoyed reading his columns but found his voice hard to listen to. I think I would have enjoyed reading instead of the audio version. Learned some surprising and interesting facts about his childhood and his life experiences. Very interesting.
