Even though the book started a little slow, it picked up pretty quickly and made for an enjoyable read. I was actually surprised by how much I like it.

This one's kinda difficult to classify. A romance, yeah, also space opera with a take-no-prisoners heroine. (The fact that she herself gets taken prisoner is something she just has to deal with.)

After US Air Force pilot Bree "Banzai" Maguire is shot down in Korean airspace, she awakens in the year 2176

This is one of the few series of books that changes authors. Others (that I've read that change authors but retain the same characters) would be Star Wars and Star Trek. Some authors described what happened better than others, but I tracked all of the 2176 series of books down and enjoyed the stories, I think there were 5 books in all, which include a romance in each and time travel. I liked a woman being a fighter pilot, and a legend.

The first book in the 2176 SF-romance series. I thought this one was the best of the bunch, with the titular fighter pilot awakening from bio-stasis 170 years in the future. The world-building reads very naturally, and the core plotting was great. I felt the rest of the series never really lived up to this one.

This is part of a series, which are very good and sometimes hard to be found in a whole set.

2176 Five Women. One Goal: Freedom.
The year: 2006. The mission: routine. Or so U.S.A.F. pilot Bree "Banzai" Maguire thinks. Then she's shot down over enemy airspace, captured and put in bio-stasis. When she wakes, everything's changed. It's one hundred and seventy years later-2176-the world is in crisis, and she's a hotly contested prize.

First book in the 2176 series. I read two others in the series before this, so I already knew how this went. If I had read it first, probably would have liked it better.

I really enjoyed this whole series of books set in 2176. This is the First one and sets up the story of one female Fighter pilot who is put into Cryo sleep and awakens 170 yrs later and what happens. It is a great futuristic romance and a wonderful story.

This story has an interesting plot. It is not the most exciting adventure to read, but interesting never the less. A lot better then Day Of Fire by Nance, which is part of the 2176 series.

Interesting exploration of how a patriotic would feel & react in a hypothetical future political environment.

THE LEGEND OF BANZAI MAGUIRE is a story about a strong woman; a fighter pilot and warrior, Rip Van Winkled two hundred years into the future. Found by a Special Ops commando and stolen by a powerful dictator she is torn by her need to find her wingman/friend who was brought forward in time with her, and following her heart. For the science fiction reader, the future world is vividly real and full of action and intrigue.

The novel opens in 2006 as U.S. Air Force fighter Bree "Banzai" Maguire is preparing for a routine patrol between North and South Korea. She feels a shiver of apprehension and soon finds her foreboding to be well founded when she and her wingman, Cam, are trapped by a mad scientist and frozen alive until treasure hunter Ty Armstrong rescues her 170 years later.
